How are you?

Our vacation was wonderful. We feel refreshed and also really enjoyed the snow, something we don’t really get in San Francisco. After we got back, I started to pray and prepare for a message for an online service in Germany. Pray with me that God will put the right words in my mouth when I record it this week and that everyone who watches it will be encouraged and inspired. Thank you so much!!

And as we we saw in the video above in Timothy and maybe our own life that not all of us had fathers that taught us about God. That is why spiritual fathers are so important. Ask God in prayer and yourself who you could be a spiritual son to and then ask if they could adopt you in that way!

Wie geht es dir?

Unser Urlaub war super. Wir fühlen uns erfrischt und genossen den Schnee, etwas wo wir in San Francisco nicht sehr oft bekommen. Nachdem wir zurückkamen fing ich an zu beten um mich für eine Predigt für einen online Gottesdienst in Rohrdorf vorzubereiten. Betet dafür das Gott mir die richtigen Worte in den Mund legt, wenn ich das Video dafür aufnehme. Betet auch dafür das jeder der es anschaut ermutigt und inspiriert wird. Vielen Dank!!

Und wie wir im VIdeo oben sahen das Timotheus und vielleicht auch Du nicht unbedingt einen Vater hattest der dich über Gott unterrichtet hat. Dies ist der Grund wieso geistliche Väter so wichtig sind. Stelle Gott und dir die Frage wer ein Glaubens Vater fuer dich sein kann und dann frage diese Person ob sie dir helfen kann im Glauben zu wachsen!

[:en]The book of Nehemiah is right after the time of Ezra and he is also going back to rebuild but he rebuilds the city. But Nehemiah was in a different job position then Ezra, he was a governor, a political leader. Be inspired by the video introduction into the book and of course then by reading it too!!

[:en]Why is it important?

When Jesus called us to love our neighbor, he gave us a task that is possible for each one of us and is also a blessing for each one of us. Many people around us might feel isolated or don’t feel a sense of belonging (maybe including us), and each one of us can bring change to that. You will see how loving your neighbor will change those things and also the relationships but also how it will give you a greater love for the people around you. It will leave a great impact and it builds a strong and lasting community for your neighbors and you as well to just name a few things. When I think back to last year and how the pandemic affected everyone around the world we saw more and more 1. the need of bringing God’s love to our local places and 2. How important it is to be connected with our neighbors. We got reminded of the call from Jesus also because our neighborhoods were the only places we could go to. So let’s all do this together starting today to take Jesus seriously and love our neighbor. We will give you a monthly tip with how to establish that relationship and love your neighbors in a practical way and then we will all put it into action with the neighbors right around us.  And then watch how over time your neighborhood will change! You, me, and all of us can do it so let’s do it!!

We hope you had a wonderful first week in 2022. We are excited for the things God will do this year. One of the things we will start doing in February is having a monthly love your neighbor conversation. We will talk each month with each other on zoom about how we can love our neighbor better and talk about challenges we face in that and how we can overcome them. Stay tuned for details!!

Als Jesus uns dazu berufen hat unseren Nächsten (Nachbarn) zu lieben, gab er uns eine Aufgabe die für jeden von uns möglich ist und gleichzeitig auch ein Segen für uns ist. Viele Menschen in unserem Umfeld fühlen sich oftmals einsam oder haben nicht das Gefühl das sie dazugehören (vielleicht fühlen wir uns auch selber manchmal so) und jeder von uns kann Veränderung in diesem Bereich bringen. Du wirst sehen wie sich diese Dinge und die Beziehungen mit Nachbarn verändern, wenn wir sie lieben, und wie auch wir selber eine größere Liebe für unsere Nachbarn haben. Es wird einen großen Eindruck hinterlassen und eine starke Gemeinschaft aufbauen für dich und sie um nur einige Dinge zu nennen. Wenn ich zum letzten Jahr zurückdenke und wie die Corona Virus Situation jeden auf der Welt traf sah man auch mehr und mehr 1. wie wichtig es ist die Liebe Gottes auch zu unseren Wohngebieten zu bringen und 2. Wie wichtig es ist mit unseren Nachbarn verbunden zu sein. Es war eine gute Erinnerung an Jesus Auftrag speziell auch deshalb da wir nicht wirklich woanders hingehen konnten. Lasst uns dies zusammentun und Jesus Auftrag unseren Nächsten/ Nachbarn zu lieben ernst nehmen. Wir werden jeden Monat einen Tipp posten wie Beziehungen aufgebaut werden können und wie wir praktisch unsere Nachbarn lieben können. Und dann werden wir das ganze aktiv mit unseren Nachbarn leben. Dann pass auf und sehe wie sich mit der Zeit deine Wohngegend verändert! Jeder von uns kann es tun deshalb lasst uns aktiv werden, Du, ich und jeder einzelne von uns!!

We hope you had a wonderful Christmas!! We for sure did even if it looked different again this year. Our Christmas day lunch with our neighborhood friend was wonderful. We had a nice meal together and it felt a bit like grandpa came over for Christmas. We also got to connect with our families through video calls which was also amazing!

2021 comes to an end in just a few days. When we come to the end of our year we always spend time to reflect and looking back at the things God did. God gave us Caleb, we hosted love your neighbor workshops, launched a love your neighbor social network just to name a few things. But with all the good during the year there are also challenging moments for all of us, like for us especially not being able to connect with people in the usual way cause of Covid. Reflect on those with God too and let him give you new perspective. Jen and I also spend some time at the end of the year to get words for the new year from God and look back at the old ones. When we do that we always get encouraged by how faithful he is. Let him speak to you and give you words for your new year too!!

Like Paul and Silas in the story above ask God in this new year where he wants you to bring the gospel. And also start into the year 2022  with the knowing that you are amazing and loved!!

[:de]In unserer heutigen Geschichte geht es um Paulus und Silas und wie sie nicht aufgaben, selbst mit großen Herausforderungen, das Evangelium zu den Thessalonichern zu bringen. Sei inspiriert!!

Hallo unser Freund/in

Wir hoffen du hattest ein schönes Weihnachtsfest! Unseres war schön selbst wenn es dieses Jahr auch wieder anders aussah. Unser Weihnachtsessen mit einem älteren Freund aus unserem Wohngebiet war toll. Wir aßen ein gutes Essen zusammen und es fühlte sich wie Familie an da der ältere Mann wie ein Opa zu uns ist. Wir konnten auch mit unseren Familien Video Telefonieren was super war!

2021 ist in wenigen Tagen vorbei. Wenn wir am Ende des Jahres ankommen verbringen wir immer Zeit über das alte Jahr zu reflektieren und damit auf die Dinge zu schauen die Gott getan hat. Gott schenkte uns Caleb, half uns Love your Neighbor Workshops zu veranstalten, ein Sozial Netzwerk zu starten um nur einige wenige Dinge zu nennen. Aber mit all den guten Momenten gab es auch schwierige und herausfordernde Zeiten, für uns z.B. nicht mit Nachbarn wie früher zusammen zu kommen wegen der Corona Situation. Reflektiere über die guten und schwierigen Zeiten mit Gott und bitt ihn dir seine Perspektive in all diesen Dingen zu geben. Jen und ich verbringen auch immer etwas Zeit am Ende des Jahres um Gott für Worte für das neue Jahr zu fragen und auf die alten zurückzublicken. Wenn wir dies tun werden wir jedes Mal wieder darin ermutigt wie treu Gott ist. Lass Ihn zu dir sprechen und frage ihn nach Worten für dein neues Jahr!

Vergiss auch nicht Gott zu fragen wie Paulus und Silas wo du das Evangelium hintragen solls im Jahr 2022. Starte das  neue Jahr mit dem Wissen das du wunderbar und geliebt bist!!

[:en]The book of Ezra starts of with how Ezra (a priest) leaves the land, that held them captive, together with 50000 people from Israel to go back to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple. His mission was that, but even more so to bring the people back to God. Be encouraged through this video intro into the book and then afterwards through reading it! May the book of Ezra inspire you to help people find their way back to God!

We hope you had a wonderful week!! We cant believe its only a few more days till Christmas. Wow time for sure goes fast. We were able to bless and encourage more people with some extra Christmas cards the printers send us. It was wonderful. We also got to celebrate the 87th birthday of a neighborhood friend. It was wonderful. We are excited for this Christmas weekend to celebrate with Caleb his first Christmas. It will be a lot of fun! We cant have the big Christmas dinner this year with neighbors but we will have one older neighbor for a Christmas meal which will be nice! Jesus always valued the one through his life and so do we!! How can you be a blessing to your neighbors this Christmas week?

We want to wish you a merry Christmas. May this be a Christmas for you where you can experience in a new and deeper way Emmanuel God with us!

Wir hoffen du hattest eine wunderbare Woche! Nun sind es nur noch wenige Tage bis Weihnachten. Die Zeit vergeht wirklich schnell. Wir konnten in der letzten Woche noch einige weitere Menschen mit unseren extra Weihnachtskarten (die Druckerei schickte uns extra Karten) ermutigen was super war. Wir konnten in dieser Woche auch den 87. Geburtstag eines Freundes aus unserem Stadtteil feiern. Dies war auch eine tolle Zeit. Wir freuen uns darauf am Wochenende mit Caleb sein 1. Weihnachten zu feiern. Das wird sicher toll. Wir können leider dieses Jahr keine lange Tafel mit Nachbarn zu einem Weihnachtsessen haben aber wir werden ein kleines Essen mit einem älteren Nachbarn haben. Jesus sah jeden einzelnen der zu ihm kam wichtig und wertvoll an und so tun auch wir! Wie kannst du ein Segen zu deinen Nachbarn in dieser Weihnachtswoche sein?

Wir wollen Dir ein frohes und gesegnetes Weihnachtsfest wünschen. Möge dieses Weihnachten eine Zeit sein wo du auf neue und auf einem tieferen Weg Emmanuel Gott mit uns erleben darfst!

We love our neighbors and for Christmas we always want to do something special for them so we started a tradition to bake brownies and give out a Christmas card. We usually bake around 100 brownies. This year we we weren’t sure how it will all work out with Caleb around but it all worked. We handed out over 100 brownies and cards. Everyone felt so blessed and loved. Some of them got to see Caleb and that brought extra joy. The brownie and the card are nice but what really speaks to people is that they are important to you and that you value them. That shows your love and the love of Jesus through you. We want to encourage you to bring joy and hope to your neighbors in this Christmas season! You have between 1 and 1.5 weeks left depending when you read this bless them with something small like a Christmas card, like in the video blog above, with some homemade baked things! You are a blessing to your neighborhood!!

Wie lieben unsere Nachbarn und zu Weihnachten wollen wir immer etwas Spezielles für sie machen. Deshalb haben wir eine Tradition angefangen Brownies zu backen und eine Weihnachtskarte für sie zu kreieren. Wir backen normalerweise 100 Brownies wussten aber nicht wie es dieses Jahr mit Caleb klappen würde. Aber es klappte perfekt wir gaben über 100 Brownies und Karten an unsere Nachbarn aus und jeder der sie bekam war so glücklich darüber. Alle die Caleb sahen waren extra glücklich. Die Brownies und die Karte sind gut aber was sie zu den Nachbarn sprechen ist das sie uns wertvoll und wichtig sind. Dies zeigt Ihnen deine liebe und die liebe von Jesus durch dich. Wir möchten dich ermutigen Freude und Hoffnung zu deinen Nachbarn in dieser Weihnachtszeit zu bringen. Du hast zwischen 1 und 1.5 Wochen Zeit, abhängig davon wenn du dies liest, um dies zu tun durch etwas kleines wie z.B. eine Weihnachtskarte, wie im Video blog oben, und etwas selbstgebackenes. Du bist ein Segen für deine Nachbarn!!!

How was your week?

Our family has been fighting a cold for a bit and now it was my turn to get it. But it will pass! Outside of that our week was good. I was able to encourage people online which is so needed in todays time. Jen got to connect with different Parents in the park and online and was able to encourage them. Caleb got to see a little puppy and was so happy. Not sure who was more excited him or the puppy. Babies and puppies are such a great way to get into a conversation!!

Have you thought more about how you can be a blessing to a neighbor during this christmas season? Jen and i will bake brownies and give them to our neighbors along with our christmas card. A simple thing but it brings so much joy to everyone who gets it. This is a great time to bless neighbors and also in return be blessed too!
Dont forget this week to spend time to read through the 2 letters Paul wrote to the Thessalonians!

Wie war deine Woche?

Unsere Familie hat sich vor einiger Zeit eine Erkältung eingefangen und nun war es meine Runde sie zu bekommen. Aber auch dies wird vergehen. Aber sonst hatten wir eine gute Woche. Ich konnte einige Menschen online ermutigen was in der heutigen Zeit so wichtig ist.  Jen konnte sich mit mehreren Eltern im Park und online treffen und konnte diese ermutigen. Caleb sah eine kleine Welpe und war so glücklich. Ich weiß aber nicht wer sich mehr gefreut hat, Caleb oder die Welpe. Babys und Welpen sind ein perfekter Weg um mit anderen ins Gespräch zu kommen!!

Hast du mehr darüber nachgedacht wie du in dieser Weihnachtszeit ein Segen zu deinen Nachbarn sein kannst? Jen und ich backen Brownies und verteilen sie an unsere Nachbarn zusammen mit einer Weihnachtskarte. Eine einfache Sache die aber soviel Freude zu allen bringt die sie bekommen. Diese Zeit ist eine perfekte Zeit ein Segen für Nachbarn zu sein und im Gegenzug auch gesegnet zu werden!

First of all happy Thanksgiving. We hope you get to enjoy some really good family time and food this week and feel stuffed like the turkey at the end :). Special days like Thanksgiving are a great way to bring people together. We used to set up many tables together in our little apartment and fit as many people as we could and everyone always felt encouraged in that time. Last year we had to make a change cause of covid and Everyone picked up their Thanksgiving meal and then we met up on zoom with each other. It was wonderful. We want to encourage you to use these upcoming Christmas season to bring neighbors together, online or in person.

And don’t forget to ask yourself where does God challenge you to think different?

Hallo unser Freund/in

Diese Woche feiern wir hier in Amerika das Thanksgiving Fest. Dabei treffen sich die meisten mit Familie und Essen Truthahn zusammen bis wir mehr vollgestopft sind wie der Truthahn. Feiertage wie dieser sind einfacher weg Menschen zusammenzubringen. Vor der corona Situation bauten wir aus vielen Tischen eine lange Tafel in unserer kleinen Wohnung auf die von einem Ende zum anderen reichte und füllten sie mit der maximalen Kapazität an Nachbarn. Das geniale war das jeder ermutigt und mit Freude ging. Letztes Jahr konnten wir wegen covid nicht den langen Tisch haben deshalb kochen wir das Essen und verpackten es in kleine Container und jeder Nachbar konnte es abholen und dann trafen wir uns auf zoom. Es war wunderbar! Wir möchten dich ermutigen diese Weihnachtszeit dafür zu nutzen Nachbarn zusammen kommen zu lassen, ganz egal ob in person oder über video zoom!
