Hey our friend

We hope you had a wonderful week. Every day God gives us something to be thankful for, and that is where we need to put our focus on. Last week we were able to connect with some new people in the community through a neighborhood meeting. God keeps opening up new ways into the lives of people. Our normal weekly meetings went really well too and we were able to spread more hope in that community. Pray that God shows us more and more ways on how to move forward with the ministry as well as providing more fulltime staff.

Be always ready

Last Saturday Jen and I went on a date to Walnut Creek. We planned to spend some time in that beautiful town. On the way there a lady on the train started talking to us about her life and started sharing about how she got clean and how she slowly started connecting with a church. During the ride we were able to speak hope into her life and at the end of the ride I was able to pray for her. It seemed that during her whole life she had only bad experiences with man and when I prayed for her she was really touched by a man not using her but really caringly praying for her. When I finished praying another couple that sat across said that they totally want to agree with the prayers. We found out later that they just came back from a mission trip in Thailand and seeing us ministering to the lady really helped them to transition back in after being in a mainly Buddhist country. After that conversation we met another guy and offered him to pray for him, which he declined with saying I’m not religious. But we were able to encourage him to learn more about Jesus. That all happened in about 40 min and none of it was planned, all we did was being available to what God wanted to do. If you look at the ministry Jesus did, you will notice that he had many unplanned ministry opportunities like the lady at the well, the blind man etc. All he did was being available to be used by His father to do a miracle.

Now we need to ask ourselves the question. Are we available when God opens up an opportunity? What holds us back not to step into that opportunity? Ponder a bit on those questions and then go for the opportunities God gives you.

Wir hoffen du hattest eine wunderbare Woche. Jeden Tag gibt uns Gott etwas wofür wir dankbar sein können, und darauf müssen wir unseren Fokus legen.  Letzte Woche konnten wir durch ein Nachbarschaft Treffen neue Leute in der Gegend kennenlernen. Gott öffnet ständig neue Türen in die Leben von Menschen hier. Unsere normalen wöchentlichen Meetings verliefen wunderbar und wir hatten die Möglichkeit dadurch mehr Hoffnung zu bringen. Bete dafür dass Gott uns mehr und mehr Wege zeigt wie wir uns mit der Arbeit vorwärts bewegen können und bete auch für mehr Vollzeitmitarbeiter.

Sei immer bereit

Letzten Samstag waren Jen und ich auf einem Date in Walnut Creek (einer kleinen Stadt außerhalb San Francisco). Wir hatten vor etwas Zeit dort zu verbringen und uns ein wenig über den Tag zu erholen. Auf dem Weg im Zug  dorthin sprach uns eine Frau an. Zuerst stellte sie uns eine technische Frage. Danach erzählte sie uns darüber wie sie vor kurzem nach vielen Jahren in der Abhängigkeit von Drogen frei wurde und eine Gemeinde fand die sie aufnahm und wo sie langsam Fuß fasste. Für den Rest der Fahrt konnten wir Ihr neue Hoffnung zusprechen und ich konnte am Ende für sie beten. Für ihr ganzes Leben wurde sie schlecht von Männern behandelt und ausgenutzt und als ich für sie betete hatte sie Tränen in den Augen da sie vielleicht zum ersten Mal in ihrem Leben nicht von einem Mann ausgenutzt wurde aber anstatt dessen Hoffnung erfahren hat. Als ich fertig gebetet hatte sagte ein Pärchen das auf der anderen Seite saß das sie im gegenseitigen Einvernehmen dem Gebet zustimmen. Kurz darauf fanden wir heraus dass sie gerade von einem Missionseinsatz in Thailand zurückkamen und das diese Begebenheit sie richtig ermutigt hat, da sie für Wochen in einem hauptsächlich buddhistischen Land waren. Nach diesem Gespräch lernten wir einen anderen Mann kennen und boten ihm an für Ihn zu beten, was er ablehnte mit der Begründung dass er nicht religiös sei. Aber wir konnten ihn darin ermutigen mehr über Jesus zu lernen. Das alles passierte in einem Zeitrahmen von 40 Minuten und nichts davon war geplant. Alles was wir taten war das wir bereit waren das Gott uns benutzen konnte. Wenn du dir die verschiedenen Missionseinsätze von Jesus anschaust wirst du feststellen das er viele ungeplanten Einsätze hatte wie z.B. die Frau am Brunnen und die Heilung des Blinden Mannes. Alles was er getan hat war bereit zu sein um von seinen Vater benutzt zu werden um ein Wunder zu tun.

Nun müssen wir uns die Frage stellen. Sind wir bereit wenn Gott uns die Möglichkeit gibt? Was hält uns zurück um diese Möglichkeiten wahrzunehmen (Angst etc.) ? Denke ein wenig über diese Fragen nach und dann nimm die Möglichkeiten wahr die Gott dir eröffnet.

Hey our friend

We hope you had a wonderful week. We saw God coming through in many ways. Over the last week we saw more and more parts of the vision of End Loneliness coming true. Our God is awesome. Jen led an aerobic class together with the DTS at the Italian community center, and through the prayer walks in the last week we saw more of God coming through in the neighborhood. Praise God.

What are your wrong believes?

Todays blog is inspired by Steve Backlund who was speaking at church last Saturday. He shared on the topic of wrong believes. Our actions and the way we live our life is controlled by what we believe. As an example if we approach life like this: “Its hopeless”. If we have that believe we will look at things with a way more negative and not hope bringing attitude. But if you look at the bible and the different situations people went through, you realize that its not that hopeless: Abraham got a son in really old age (Genesis 17-21). Joseph was hated by his brothers and almost got killed but became a ruler over Egypt (Genesis 37-41),Moses stood in front of the ocean with enemies behind him and the crowd he was leading, so God just spilt the water. The disciples were afraid to get killed by the Christian hater Saul. God just turned his heart and he became the greatest apostle in the bible (Acts). Lazarus came to life after being dead  for 4 days (John 11).
But now after you addressed the lie just laugh out loud at it, because it is so ridiculous. And then take action steps. If you feel hopeless ask the holy spirit to show you the lies you believe in that area. Start cutting those lies out of your life. Start believing that there is hope for your life. And then start declaring that over yourself on a daily base. I recommend reading Steves book Lets just laugh at that.

So now if you think about that one lie, you notice that there are many lies like this one or similar ones in our believe system. Its important to bring those lies to the light and laugh at how ridiculous they are. And then start looking at the truth and the things God is saying. Then proclaim the truth over yourself.  Ask God this week what lies you believe and find truth. And the truth will set you free John 8:32

Wir hoffen du hattest eine super Woche. Wir sahen Gottes Hilfe in vielen Bereichen. In der letzten Woche sahen wir mehr und mehr Teile der Vision von end Loneliness wahr werden. Unser Gott ist fantastisch. Jen leitete eine Aerobic Klasse mit der DTS beim italienischen Alten Nachmittag, und wir sahen Gottes Veränderung in der Gegend bei unseren Gebetsmärschen. Lobt Gott.

Was sind falsche Überzeugungen in deinem Leben?

Der heutige Blog ist von Steve Backlund inspiriert und unserem Gottesdienst am letzten Samstag. Er sprach über das Thema von falschen Überzeugungen in unserem Glauben. Wie wir Leben und Handeln ist kontrolliert von unseren Glauben und unseren Überzeugungen.  Als Beispiel Hier eine Überzeugung die viele Menschen haben: „Alles ist hoffnungslos“. Wenn wir eine solche Überzeugung haben leben wir alles in unserem Leben vielmehr mit einer negativen und nicht hoffnungsvollen Einstellung. Aber wenn du dir mal die Bibel anschaust und die Situationen durch die viele gegangen sind siehst du das es nicht ganz so hoffnungslos ist. Abraham hatte keinen Sohn aber das Versprechen das er mehr nachkommen haben wird wie Sand am Meer. Im hohen Alter bekam seine Frau einen Sohn (1.Mose 17-21). Josef wurde von seinen Brüdern gehasst und beinahe getötet bekam aber dann der Präsident über Ägypten (1. Mose 37-41). Moses stand vor dem Meer mit einer Armee hinter sich die alle Leute die er führte töten wollte, was tut Gott, er spaltet das Wasser und er eröffnet die erste Meer Autobahn so das alle die er leitete gerettet wurden. Die Jünger hatten Angst das sie von dem Christen Verfolger Saul getötet werden. Gott verändertet einfach das Herz des Christen Verfolgers und machte ihn zum größten Apostel in der Bibel (Apostelgeschichte). Lazarus kam zurück ins Leben nachdem er 4 Tage tot war (Johannes 11).

Aber wenn du nun diese Lüge gefunden hast lache einmal kräftig darüber, da du siehst wie lächerlich sie ist. Und dann unternehme einige Action Schritte. Wenn du dich hoffnungslos fühlst frage den Heiligen Geist das er dir zeigt wo du Lügen in diesem Gebiet glaubst. Fange an diese Lügen aus deinem Leben zu entfernen. Fang an daran zu glauben das es Hoffnung in deinem Leben gibt. Und dann fang an dieses täglich über dich zu sprechen. Ich empfehle Dir dieses Buch von Steve zu lesen: Lets just laug at that.

Wenn du nun an diese eine Lüge denkst wirst du feststellen dass es viele dieser Lügen unsere Überzeugungen und unseren Glauben beeinflussen. Es ist wichtig das du dies Lügen ans Licht bringst und das du dann siehst wie lächerlich sie sind. Und dann schaue nach der Wahrheit, was Gott darüber sagt. Und dann proklamiere diese Wahrheit täglich über dich. Frage in dieser Woche Gott nach den Lügen die du glaubst und finde Wahrheit. Die Wahrheit wird dich frei machen (Johannes 8:32)

Hey friend

We hope your last week was great. Our students from the fall school graduated and are moving into the new things God has for them. Its always so exciting to hear how God is using young people to change and impact this world. We also had 2 good friends from Iowa here for a visit. It was a wonderful time. During the week we were also meeting with different people in the neighborhood as well we started to connect with a neighborhood association which is exciting since we prayed for that to happen a week before. Praise God.

Heaven is more real than you think or believe

I want to share a story of hope with you that will hopefully encourage and challenge you. It actually just happened a few month ago. Jens grandpa, a wonderful loving old amish man, was close to dying. He was a man that was loved by everyone and people said about him that in his presence they felt loved. He was always humbled and had a huge love for Jesus. I would say a man after Gods heart. During his time of dying he was sharing about 2 heaven experiences he had. In one he saw many happy children and his son (Jen’s dad who passed away 14 years ago), who he didn’t recognize because of how young he looked. He also saw his wife. Another thing that happened was an encouragement to a hospice lady that was with him. He told her about a child that he saw in heaven and that she was ok. The lady was crying but also got really encouraged, her child died 5 month before that. After that experience he said that the food here was moldy and the water tastes bad. Shortly after that he died. His last days on earth he used to encourage and bring hope. A few weeks after that a not related person shared with me about a person in there life and how they experienced something similar and they also saw children.

Now you can put this down and say that it was a fantasy, or you can try to explain it in a medical way. But i believe that God brought him back for a short time to encourage us in our faith, to stop and think about what life really is about. Is it about success, money, power, ministry, doing good things or family etc.? Or is it about getting into a deeper relationship with Jesus and to learn more about his plan for our life and also get ready for the time in eternity. I think both of the reasons will coexist, but our main priority should always be our relationship with Jesus and after that all other things can come. Let this be a wakeup call for all of us to think about what has priority in our life.

You might read this blog and never had a personal relationship with Him. If you want to have a personal relationship with him just ask him into your life through this simple prayer.

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again. I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward. Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

Wir hoffen dass Du eine gute Woche hattest. Unsere Herbst Studenten haben Ihren Abschluss gemacht und machen sich nun auf den Weg in die neuen Dinge die Gott für sie geplant hat. Es ist immer so schön zu hören wie Gott junge Menschen benutzt um diese Welt zu verändern. Wir hatten auch Besuch von 2 guten Freunden aus Iowa. Wir hatten eine schöne Zeit. In der letzten Woche trafen wir uns mit verschiedensten Menschen aus der Gegend und bauten dadurch eine Verbindung zu einer Nachbarschaft Gemeinschaft auf. Wir beteten dafür in der letzten Woche das Gott diese Tür öffnet. Lobt Gott

Der Himmel ist mehr Realität als du denkst oder glaubst

Ich möchte dir diese Woche von einer Begebenheit schreiben die dich hoffentlich ermutigt und herausfordert. Das Ganze ist vor wenigen Monaten passiert. Jen’s Opa, ein wunderbarer liebender amisher Mann lag im Sterben. Er war ein Mann der jedem der mit Ihm in Kontakt kam Gottes Liebe spüren lies. Viele sagten das sie sich in seiner Gegenwart geliebt fühlten. Er war immer sehr demütig und hatte eine große Liebe für Jesus. Ich würde sagen ein Mann der Gottes Herz lebte.  In seiner Sterbezeit hatte er 2 Himmel Erlebnisse. Dies ist was er gesehen hat und was er erzählt hat. Er sah viele glückliche Kinder und seinen Sohn (Jen’s Vater der vor 14 Jahren gestorben ist), den er erst gar nicht erkannte da er viel jünger aussah. Er sah auch seine Frau die vor einigen Jahren verstarb. Eine weitere Sache die passierte war eine Situation mit einer Hospiz Frau die nach ihm schaute. Er sagte zu ihr, das er ein Kind sah und das alles ok ist. Die Frau fing an zu weinen und wurde gleichzeitig ermutigt, sie beerdigte ihr Kind 5 Monate zuvor was er nicht wusste. Nach diesen Erfahrungen sagte er das das essen hier auf der Erde verschimmelt schmeckt und das das Wasser bitter ist. Kurz danach starb er. Gott benutzte seine letzten Tage auf dieser Erde um Menschen zu ermutigen. Einige Wochen danach erzählte mir eine andere Person von Ihrer Schwester und wie diese ebenfalls ein Himmel Erlebnis hatte und wie sie fast das gleiche erlebte und auch von Kindern berichtete.

Nun kannst du alle möglichen Erklärungen finden wie z.B. das er fantasiert hat, oder du kannst nach einer medizinischen Erklärung suchen. Aber ich glaube dass Gott Ihn aus diesem Grund zurückgebracht hat um uns in unserem Glauben zu ermutigen als auch uns dazu zu bringen anzuhalten und nachzudenken um was es wirklich im Leben geht. Geht es um Erfolg, Geld, Macht, Mission, gute Dinge zu tun, Familie usw.? Oder geht es darum eine tiefere Beziehung mit Jesus zu haben, mehr über seinen Plan für unser Leben zu erfahren und mehr auf den Himmel vorbereitet zu werden? Ich denke beide Wege können parallel existieren, aber unsere Haupt Priorität sollte immer unsere Beziehung mit Jesus sein und alle anderen Dinge sollen danach kommen. Lasst uns dies als eine aufweckende Erinnerung sehen unsere Prioritäten richtig auszurichten.

Du liest vielleicht diesen Blog und hattest noch nie eine Beziehung mit Jesus. Wenn du gerne eine Beziehung mit Ihm haben möchtest lade Ihn einfach mit diesem gebet ein.

„Vater, ich weiß, dass ich deine Gebote nicht gehalten habe und dass ich durch meine Sünden von dir getrennt bin. Es tut mir aufrichtig leid, und ich möchte mich jetzt von meiner schuldbeladenen Vergangenheit abwenden und zu dir kommen. Bitte vergib mir und hilf mir, dass ich nicht in mein sündiges Leben zurückfalle. Ich glaube, dass dein Sohn Jesus Christus für meine Schuld gestorben und von den Toten auferstanden ist. Er lebt und hört mein Gebet. Ich lade Jesus Christus ein, Herr meines Lebens zu werden und von nun an in meinem Herzen zu herrschen und zu regieren. Bitte sende deinen Heiligen Geist, damit er mir hilft, dir zu gehorchen und in Zukunft deinen Willen zu tun. Ich bete in Jesu Namen. Amen.“

P.s. San Francisco hat zusammen mit Manhattan New York die höchsten Lebenshaltungskosten in der USA. Allerdings glauben wir trotz allem das Gott uns als Stadtmissionare berufen hat. We hope you had a great week. Ours was really good but in the same way super busy. We had a ministry evaluation meeting, which was really encouraging. Then we had our normal events going on which ended up being wonderful.  We also had some wonderful friends here to visit us. It was a great time. Stand with us in Prayer this week that more people in the neighborhood see more of Gods loving and healing character.

Jesus heals the brokenhearted

This morning I looked at a big picture of a broken heart at the YWAM Base. In big letters it said “Jesus heals the brokenhearted”. Think about Valentine’s Day and how much our focus on that day is to show our wife, girl or boyfriend or just people in our life how much we care about them. I see that day a focus change of taking our eyes of ourselves and instead putting our focus on others. We have to do the same thing with Jesus. When we take our eyes of off our issues and problems and totally focus on Jesus it will change the perspective we have about the situation. I’m not saying ignore your issues, but bring them to the one who can actually heal or help with them. If you would have a heart attack, would you go to your computer and Google about how you can cut open your heart and take out the blocking? No, you would automatically call a doctor to help you. But how many times do you do that with Jesus? How many times do you look at him to find answers or healing? How often are we trying to figure it out ourselves instead of asking Him for help? He wants to bring healing and the answers, but we have to let him. And we can do that by taking our eyes off the issue or the circumstance and look at Him and trust that he knows best and that He has the perfect solution. It makes us dependent on him, but let me tell you, depending on Him is a healthy dependence.

Wir hoffen dass Du eine super Woche hattest. Unsere war sehr gut, wenn auch sehr voll. Wir hatten ein Evaluierung Meeting für die verschiedensten arbeiten von YWAM San Francisco. Dieses war sehr ermutigend. Und dann hatten wir unsere normalen Veranstaltungen die in der letzten Woche super waren. Wir hatten auch einige gute Freunde zu Besuch in der letzten Woche, aus Iowa und Washington. Es war eine super Zeit. Bete mit uns in dieser Woche für die North beach Gegend, das mehr Menschen hier Gottes Liebe und Heilung erleben dürfen.

Jesus heilt gebrochene Herzen

Heute Morgen stach mir ein Bild mit einem gebrochenen Herz an der YWAM Base ins Auge. In großen Buchstaben sagte es „Jesus heals the brokenhearted (Jesus heilt die mit einem gebrochenen Herz)“. Wenn Du an den Valentinstag denkst und wie viel wir unsere Aufmerksamkeit darauf legen das unsere Frau, unsere Freundin oder unser Freund sehen wie wichtig sie für uns sind. Ich sehe an diesem Tag wie wir unseren Fokus von uns wegrichten und auf andere schauen. Wir müssen das gleiche mit Jesus tun. Wenn wir unseren Fokus auf Ihn legen anstatt auf all unsere Probleme und Verletzungen ändert dies die Perspektive von der wir eine Situation sehen. Ich sage damit nicht das du deine Probleme und Verletzungen ignorieren sollst, aber anstatt dessen bringe sie zu dem der sie wirklich heilen kann und Hilfe bringt. Falls du einen Herzinfarkt hast, gehst du dann zu deinem Computer und fragst Google wie du eine Herz OP an dir selber vornehmen kannst? Nein, du würdest automatisch deinen Doktor anrufen. Aber wie oft machst du dies mit Jesus? Wie oft fragst du Ihn für antworten oder Heilung? Wie oft versuchen wir alles selber zu lösen anstatt Ihn voll einzubinden? Er möchte Heilung und Antworten bringen, aber wir müssen Ihm erlauben dies zu tun. Und wir können dies tun indem wir unseren Fokus anstatt auf die Probleme auf Ihn legen und vertrauen das er es am besten weiß und Er die richtige Lösung hat. Es gibt uns eine stärkere Abhängigkeit zu Ihm, aber lass es Dir sagen, eine Abhängigkeit zu Ihm ist eine gute Abhängigkeit.

We had a great week here in San Francisco. During our week we were able to encourage kids, bring hope to the elderly, bring counsel to people, prayer walk, work on a city ministries website and spend time with a friend from Germany. It was amazing to see a week go by and see God move. Please keep one of our friends in prayer who is still battling cancer. Jen and I are feeling a lot better after getting over the cold, which is great. Thank you for your Prayers

God’s heart is relevant

When I prayed about what to write in today’s blog I felt God put John 9 on my heart. The story is about Jesus healing a blind man, but I think it’s even more about the heart of Jesus. The day he healed the man was a Sabbath which was in Jewish tradition a day were you were not allowed to do anything. So Jesus broke the rules of the time and all the religious leaders got mad at Him. Instead of celebrating that the man got his eyesight back they accused Jesus of breaking the Sabbath. The point is not that we should break all the rules and not have a Sabbath, if you look at the life of Jesus he took time off and he also said that he didn’t come to take the law away but instead to fulfill it, but the point is to stay connected with Gods heart and to see what he wants to do. If we live our life guided by the love and compassion of God, we will see more happening then if we base our decisions on fear on what other people are thinking. If we base it on fear our decisions will always be based on people pleasing. God doesn’t fit in a box of rules; he has many ways on how to move. How does God want to move through you?

Wir hatten eine wunderbare Woche hier in San Francisco. In dieser Woche konnten wir Kinder ermutigen, Hoffnung zu den Senioren bringen, Menschen mit Seelsorge im Café helfen, auf Gebets Märsche gehen, an einer weltweiten Stadt Mission Internetseite arbeiten und einige gute Zeit mit einem Freund aus Deutschland verbringen. Es war genial eine Woche so vorbeigehen zu sehen mit Gottes wirken. Bitte bete weiterhin für einen unserer Freunde aus der Gegend der immer noch mit Krebs kämpft. Jen und mir geht es viel besser nach dem wir die Grippe hinter uns gelassen haben. Vielen Dank für Eure Gebete

Gottes Herz ist relevant

Als ich heute Morgen darüber betete was ich diese Woche im Blog schreiben sollte, fühlte ich das Gott sagte über Johannes 9 zu schreiben. In der Geschichte geht es um Jesus und wie er einen blinden Mann heilte, aber ich denke dass es vielmehr um das Herz von Jesus geht. Der Tag an dem er den Mann heilte war ein Sabbat welcher in jüdischer Tradition ein Tag war an dem man nichts tun durfte. Jesus brach die Regeln dieser Zeit und die religiösen Leiter waren sauer mit Ihm. Anstatt sich darüber zu freuen dass dieser Mann wieder sehen konnte beschuldigen sie Jesus die Regeln des Sabbats gebrochen zu haben.  Es geht hier nicht darum das wir alle Regeln brechen sollen und keinen Sabbat haben sollen. Nein Jesus nahm sich Auszeiten und sagte das er nicht kam um das Gesetz ungültig zu machen, aber anstatt dessen das Gesetz zu erfüllen. Aber der Punkt ist das wir mit Gottes Herz in Verbindung sein müssen und sehen müssen was er tun will. Wenn wir unser Leben mit der Liebe und Barmherzigkeit Gottes Leben sehen wir mehr Veränderung als wenn wir unsere Leben in Angst leben und alles darauf  basieren was andere Menschen über uns denken. Gott passt nicht in eine Kiste von Regeln; er hat viele Wege wie er wirkt. Wie möchte Gott durch dich wirken?

Hello friend

We hope you had a wonderful week. Ours was exciting but also a bit hard. After we got back from the retreat Jen had a cold which lasted for most of the week. By Tuesday night I got hit with it as well which grounded me for the rest of the week. On Monday and Tuesday we had a great time with the students. We prayer walked all over north Beach, worked with the boys and girls club and did a teaching on bullying. On Monday night we also had the alpha meeting at our house. It was a really good time as always. On Wednesday night I forced myself out of bed to host a class from our church at our house. It was a really good time. Please keep praying for the people we work with in North Beach that they find true freedom and hope. Also thank you for your prayers for the retreat. 3 people gave their life to Jesus and many got encouraged in their faith. Oh and a last one, I Markus got my green card in the mail last Friday, so no more waiting for visas. Praise God

Meat or a way of how a loving father blessed me and Jen

Last Sunday Jen and I talked about life and in some way we got on the topic meat and my love for it. I told her that I don’t eat as much meat anymore since it is pretty expensive and our budget is tightly planned. Literally 1 minute after that conversation our doorbell rang and one of our neighbors was waiting out there. He asked me if I would like to have some ribs and of course I would never say no to meatJ. So he came back and literally brought me at least 10 pounds of ribs. I was just standing there and could not believe what just happened.

If you think about a the best father you know and how he wants the best for his child, just think about how many great things God wants for you. God is a loving father who deeply cares about you. He wants the best for your life. Sometimes it is hard to understand especially if you had no example of a good father.  We want to encourage you this week to really look at and think about how you see God as a father. That can affect every area of your faith as well as practical things in your life. It can also affect your motivation on why you do things. Are you doing them for God because you feel you have to, or do you do them because you love him and know that it is the best thing you can do? Do you believe that God wants to bless you personally? To get a better picture of how he sees you read or watch through this love letter from god’s side as a father. Life is too short to live it without knowing and believing that you are truly loved by your father.

Hallo unser/e Freund/in

Wir hoffen du hattest eine gute Woche. Unsere war eine spannende als auch eine schwere. Als wir von der Freizeit in Oregon zurückkamen hatte sich Jen eine Grippe eingefangen die für die ganze Woche anhielt. Am Dienstagabend hatte es mich dann auch erwischt, was mich dann für den Rest der Woche außer Betrieb setzte. Am Montag und Dienstag hatte Ich eine gute Zeit mit den Studenten. Wir hatten einen Gebetsmarsch in dem ganzen Gebiet von North Beach, arbeitetet mit dem Boys und Girls Club zusammen, und unterrichteten die Studenten über das Thema Mobbing. Am Montagabend hatten wir ein Alpha Treffen bei uns zuhause was auch wieder eine sehr gute Zeit war. Es war wie immer eine gute Zeit. Am Mittwochabend kämpfte ich mich dann aus meinem Bett heraus um an einer Klasse mit meiner Kirche teilzunehmen die wir in unserer Wohnung veranstalten. Es hatte sich gelohnt, da die Zeit sehr ermutigend war. Bitte bete weiterhin für die Menschen mit denen wir in North Beach arbeiten das sie wahre Freiheit und Hoffnung in Jesus finden. Vielen Dank auch fürs beten für die Freizeit in Oregon, 3 Kinder haben ihr Leben Jesus übergeben und viele andere wurden in ihrem Glauben ermutigt. Oh und noch eine gute Neuigkeit, ich habe am Freitag meine Greencard erhalten, was eine unbegrenzte Aufenthaltsgenehmigung ist. Kein warten mehr aufs Visum. Lobt Gott.

Fleisch, oder ein Weg wie ein liebender Vater mich und Jen gesegnet hat

Jen und ich unterhielten uns letzten Sonntag über verschiedenste Dinge und eines der Themen war Fleisch und meine liebe dafür. Wir sprachen darüber das ich seit langer Zeit nicht mehr so viel esse, da es teuer ist und unser Budget als Missionare bis auf den letzten Dollar durchgeplant ist. Ca. 1 Minute nach dieser Unterhaltung klingelte es an unserer Tür und einer unserer Nachbarn stand davor. Er fragte mich ob ich einige Spare Ribs haben möchte, wozu ich natürlich nicht nein sagteJ. Er kam zurück mit ca. 10 Pfund Fleisch. Ich stand nur da und konnte nicht glauben was gerade passiert ist.

Wenn du an den besten Vater denkst den du kennst und wie er das Beste für seine Kinder möchte, dann denke daran wie viel gute Dinge Gott für dich hat. Gott ist ein liebender Vater der ein großes Herz für dich hat und sich sehr für dich interessiert. Er möchte das Beste für dein Leben. Manchmal ist dies schwer zu verstehen, speziell dann wenn du kein gutes Beispiel eines liebenden Vaters hattest. Wir möchten dich diese Woche dazu ermutigen darüber nachzudenken und vielleicht ein wenig in dein Tagebuch zu schreiben wie du Gott persönlich als Vater siehst, an ihn glaubst und ihm vertraust. Wie du Ihn siehst kann vieles in deinem Glauben und praktischen  Leben beeinflussen. Es kann die Motivation beeinflussen wieso du spezielle Dinge tust. Tust du sie weil du das Gefühl hast das du sie für Gott tun musst, oder tust du sie weil du Ihn liebst und weißt dass es einfach das Beste ist? Glaubst du das Gott dich persönlich segnen will? Um ein besseres Bild darüber zu bekommen lies oder schau dir diesen Liebesbrief an, geschrieben von Gott als deinem Vater. Unser Leben ist zu kurz um es ohne das Wissen und den Glauben zu leben das wir wirklich von unserem Vater geliebt sind.

An amazing week went by so quickly. Last Tuesday we had our interview for the green card which went well. Then we went off to Mount Hood to speak at a snow camp. We spoke on 3 topics: there is a purpose for our life, we are all in need of a savior and last but not least, the need of community. It was a fantastic time where we saw God moving. We left the retreat Sunday with a sad feeling since we left back many new made friends. This coming week will be another exciting week with our alpha group tonight, boys and girls club, teaching the students, coffee shop meetings, business men meeting, elderly meeting, game night, small group meeting and starting Saturday a really good friend from Germany comes for a visit. Yeah. Please keep us in your prayers this week. Pray that we are sensitive to Gods guidance with all the upcoming events.

How a Amish horse and buggy speaks about value

When I was in Pennsylvania Uncle Dave gave me a buggy ride. On the ride he was telling me about the horse and how he bought it at an auction. The horse was brought there to be sold to a butcher for meat, since one of his legs was lame and his hoof was partially ripped.  Dave took it home and gave it some time to rest.  After a while the hoof healed and the leg recovered. Now the horse is the best horse Dave ever had. I believe that is the way God sees us and all people. He doesn’t just see the things that are wrong with us, but instead he sees our potential. He doesn’t look at the outside and at what people say about us, but instead he looks at our heart. He picks the people that the world often rejects and uses them in a powerful way for his purposes. Another interesting thing of the buggy ride is this one: God sometimes puts us into a season of rest to recharge, grow and heal so we can live in the full potential he placed in us. What is God speaking to you in this season? Are you like the horse and need a season of rest and healing, or are you in the season to run forward? Pray about it.

Eine super Woche ging so schnell vorbei. Letzten Dienstag hatten wir unser Green Card interview welches gut verlief. Danach machten wir uns auf den Weg Zu Mount Hood in Oregon um bei einer Schnee Freizeit zu sprechen. Wir sprachen über 3 Themen: Jeder hat eine Berufung für sein Leben, jeder braucht einen Erlöser und zuletzt das Thema Gemeinschaft und wie wichtig diese für uns ist. Es war genial zu sehen wie Gott in den Leben der 75 Teilnehmer wirkte. Wir flogen Sonntagabend ein wenig traurig zurück da wir viele neue gewonnene Freunde zurücklassen mussten. Diese Woche wird wieder spannend mit dem Alpha Kurs, einer Kleingruppe, den Café Treffen, unterrichten der Studenten, Geschäftsleute Treffen, Spieleabend, ein Nachmittag mit den Altenheim, dem Boys und Girls Club und zu guter Letzt dem Besuch eines sehr guten Freundes aus Deutschland. Bete in dieser Zeit für uns das wir sensitiv zu Gottes Leitung sind mit all diesen Veranstaltungen.

Wie ein Amisches Pferd von Wert spricht.

Also wir über Weihnachten in Pennsylvania waren gab mir Onkel Dave eine Pferdewagen Fahrt. Bei der Fahrt erzählte er mir wie er dieses Pferd bei einer Auktion gekauft hat. Das Pferd kam zu der Auktion um als ein Schlachttier verkauft zu werden, da es eine gesplitterte Hufe hatte und ein Bein Schwierigkeiten hatte sich zu bewegen. Dave nahm es mit nach Hause und gab Ihm eine Ruhezeit. Nach einiger Zeit heilte die Hufe und das Bein verbesserte sich ebenfalls. Nun ist dieses Pferd das beste Pferd das Dave jemals hatte. Ich glaube das dies ein schönes Bild dafür ist wie Gott uns Menschen sieht. Er sieht nicht nur was bei uns falsch ist, anstatt dessen sieht er unser Potential. Er schaut nicht auf unser äußeres oder auf das was Menschen über uns sagen, anstatt dessen schaut er unser Herz an. Er wählt die Menschen die die Welt oftmals als unwichtig anschaut und benutzt sie um die Welt zu verändern. Eine weitere interessante Sache mit der Pferdefahrt ist diese: Gott bringt uns manchmal in eine Zeit der Ruhe und des Erholens um uns neu aufzutanken, uns wachsen zu lassen und uns zu heilen so dass wir noch mehr in unserem vollen Potential großartige Dinge mit ihm tun können. Was spricht Gott zu Dir in dieser Zeit deines Lebens? Bist du wie das Pferd und brauchst eine Zeit des Auftankens und Heilens, oder ist es eine Zeit um schnell vorwärts zu gehen? Bete darüber.

We hope your week was fantastic. We started to get ready for a snow camp in Oregon we speak at this upcoming weekend. Please pray that God gives us the right word to speak to the youth there. So far more than 50 youth signed up. We also had a really good ministry week with great conversations at the coffee shop and home visits. God really moved in the lives of the people. Today the students starts working in north Beach which will be a huge blessing. Please keep them and us in your prayers in this season.

What about the bullie

Last week I talked about how a nice word can change the course of someone’s life that gets bullied. But this week I want to talk about the person that bullies. When you think about Jesus and how he called us to love our enemies, you see that we are called to love the bully as well. To bring change we always need to think about both sides of the picture. But how?

First of all we have to see them with Gods eyes, meaning see all of them. People don’t just become bullies. In 99% of the cases there is a reason behind it. Many times people act out that way because they want to get the feelings of hurt out of there system (abusive home, seeing all people around them act the same way etc.). In other cases they are insecure themselves and play hard so that no one sees there insecurities since that is seen as weakness in many cultures. Whatever the case is, bullies are often hurt people as well. They believe that if they hurt others it makes them feel better about their situation.

But how can we bring change to someone like that? First of all, start praying for them daily. Love on them and show them that they are deeply loved (maybe give them a hug). Act with them in the opposite spirit: They are angry, you love on them (look at the example of Jesus at the cross Luke 23.34). Try to build relationship and help them to see their true value in Jesus. All this is easier said then done, but if all of us start working on it, we can make a big change. Start change this week. Start praying for a bully at work or in your school or in your everyday life.

Wir hoffen Deine Woche war fantastisch. Wir haben uns letzte Woche für das Schnee Camp in Oregon vorbereitet bei dem wir nächstes Wochenende sprechen werden. Bitte betet dafür das Gott uns die richtigen Worte für diese Jugendlichen gibt. Bisher haben sich 50 Jugendliche angemeldet. Wir hatten auch eine sehr gute Woche in der Arbeit hier mit sehr guten Gesprächen im Café und Hausbesuchen. Gott hat einiges in den Leben dieser Menschen bewegt.

Was aber sollen wir mit dem Mobber tun?

Letzte Woche schrieb ich darüber wie ein freundliches und ermutigendes Wort das Leben eines gemobbten Menschen verändern kann. Aber dies Woche möchte ich über die Person schreiben die mobbt. Wenn wir an Jesus denken und wie er uns dazu aufgerufen hat unsere Feinde zu lieben, sehen wir das er uns auch dazu berufen hat den Mobber zu lieben. Um Veränderung zu bringen müssen wir immer an beide Seiten denken. Aber wie?

Zuerst müssen wir den Mobber mit Gottes Augen sehen, das heißt die ganzen Umstände sehen. Menschen werden nicht einfach so zu Mobbern. In 99% der Fälle gibt es einen Grund dafür. Oftmals verhalten sich Menschen so weil sie den Schmerz im eigenen Leben loswerden möchten (gewalttätiges zuhause, keine guten Roh Modelle). In anderen Fällen sind diese Menschen sehr unsicher und wollen diese Unsicherheit mit Härte überspielen das niemand seht das sie auch schwach sind da dies in vielen Kulturen als schlecht angesehen wird. Was auch immer der Fall ist Mobber sind oftmals selber verletzte Menschen. Sie glauben das sie sich besser fühlen wenn sie andere verletzen und wenn sie Macht über sie haben.

Aber wie können wir Veränderung in diese Situation bringen? Als aller erstes bete für diese bestimmte Person täglich. Liebe diese Person und zeige Ihr dass sie geliebt ist (z.B. durch eine Umarmung). Reagiere mit einer gegenteiligen Einstellung: Wenn sie wütend ist liebe die Person und bring Frieden (Schau dir das Beispiel von Jesus am Kreuz an Lukas 23.34). Versuche Beziehungen aufzubauen und zeige Ihnen ihren wahren Wert in Jesus. Diese Dinge sind einfacher gesagt als getan, aber wenn wir alle anfangen daran zu arbeiten, können wir große Veränderung bringen. Fange diese Woche an Veränderung zu bringen. Fang an für einen Mobber (in der Schule, der Arbeit oder im Alltag) zu beten.

We hope you had a great week. Ours was good. We got back into the rhythm of things. We were also meeting about the new year and things ahead. Its going to be an exciting year. Today our new DTS Students are arriving. Please keep us in your prayers in this season since we got some exciting things planned with them. They will be here till the end of March!

Hope against bullying, maybe an answer to the events of Connecticut

During many years of work with youth I noticed more and more how loneliness is many times directly connected to bullying. When someone gets bullied during their time in school they either start acting out or isolating themselves. We saw many cases in the Media were students acted out and ended up shooting others in their schools. But we often don’t see anything in the media that pays attention to the majority of them which flee behind computers or other things that keep them away from the pain. During my high school time I was bullied for many years and I saw on myself that it took away hope in my life. For many years I felt hopeless and didn’t know why I’m even here. But when I became a Christian God got ahold of me and started to heal the broken parts in me and made me able to understand people that are in similar situation. Out of my own experience as well as my work with youth I know that one thing always helped, if someone cared about you or just said a nice word. That is something the person can hold on to for weeks and see hope. We all can make a difference in that area, if it is in school or at the workplace or anywhere else we get in touch with people. Watch out for people that are bullied and speak hope to them. You might be the only one that does. Be the hands and feet of Jesus to the ones that really need it. You might help to save lives.

Wir hoffen Du hattest eine super Woche. Wir kamen nun wieder gut im Alltag an. Letzte Woche hatten wir einige Meetings über das neue Jahr und was so geplant ist. Es wird ein spannendes Jahr. Heute kommen unsere neuen DTS Studenten an. Bitte bete für uns in den kommenden Monaten da wir einige spannende Dinge mit Ihnen geplant haben. Sie werden bis Ende März mit uns arbeiten.

Hoffnung im Mobbing eine Antwort auf Connecticut

In den vielen Jahren der Arbeit mit Jugendlichen sah ich öfters und öfters wie Einsamkeit direkt mit Mobbing in Verbindung gebracht werden kann. Wenn jemand gemobbt wird sehen wir oftmals die folgenden Reaktionen: Die Person agiert aus, die Person isoliert sich. Wir haben viele Fälle in den Medien gesehen wo Schüler ausagieren und ein Massaker anrichten. Aber wir sehen oftmals nichts in den Medien über die Schüler die sich hinter ihrem Computer verstecken oder andere Dinge tun um Ihren Schmerz zu vergessen. In meiner Schulzeit wurde ich über sehr viele Jahre hinweg gemobbt und ich sah wie es mir alle Hoffnung nahm. Für viele Jahre fühlte ich hoffnungslos und wusste nicht wieso ich überhaupt hier war. Aber als Christ wurde fing Gott an die verletzten Stellen zu heilen und gab mir einen Einblick um Menschen zu verstehen und zu helfen die in einer ähnlichen Situation sind. Aus eigener Erfahrung als auch von meiner Arbeit mit Jugendlichen habe ich eine Sache gefunden die immer hilft: Wenn sich jemand für dich interessiert oder ein freundliches Wort zu dir sagt. Das ist etwas an dem sich die Person für Wochen festhalten kann. Wir können einen Unterschied in diesem Bereich machen, ob es in der Schule, am Arbeitsplatz oder wo wir sonst mit Menschen in Verbindung kommen. Halte Ausschau nach Menschen die gemobbt werden oder die sich isolieren und sprich ein Wort der Hoffnung zu Ihnen. Du bist vielleicht der einzige der dies jemals mit diesem Menschen getan hat. Sei die Hände und Fuese Jesus für die die es dringend brauchen. Du hilfst vielleicht Leben retten.

Hey friend

Wow we are already one week into the New Year. Time is flying. Jen and I made it back safely to San Francisco. Last week we started talking and meeting about 2013 and we are excited to see what God has in store for this time. Pray that we will hear God clearly on his plans for this New Year.  Please keep also praying for our friend from the neighborhood who starts his cancer treatment in the next few weeks. Thank you for all your prayers.

Why do you give your best for the work you are doing?

When I started End Loneliness about 2.5 years ago I knew that it would be a challenge and that it would not be easy. But I also knew that whenever God spoke something in the past He made it happen. Looking back I can see that again. Starting End Loneliness was probably the most challenging and the hardest thing I ever did, and many times I was wondering if we are on the right track. It challenged me in my faith so many times especially when you hear many times discouraging words from people spoken out of fear. I kept asking God the question if we are on the right track and each time the same answer, keep going you are on the right track. Also many times that was confirmed through prophetic words from strangers. But sometimes that can still be hard if you don’t see big results. But these are the times were you have to trust God. He called us to be obedient to whatever he calls us. It doesn’t matter if we see immediate results. Some people in the bible never saw the promises in their lifetime, like Abraham. God promised him to make him into a big nation. That happened years after he died. But he stayed obedient and trusted God even when he asked him to sacrifice his son who was, speaking in human logic, important for the promise.

Now after 2.5 years I start seeing more and more fruits in different areas with the coffee shop work, the boys and girls club and all the investments we did in people’s lives start paying off. I believe that all the other things he spoke will come through as well. Our God is faithful and his promises are true, we just have to keep believing Him.

I want to encourage you with this to stay obedient to your calling and to also ask yourself those questions:
Why you press into the work you are doing?
Are you doing it to not look like a fool and to proof that you can do it or do you not care about the Glory and do it because you love God and want to bring Glory to Him?

Think and pray through that question. Start this New Year with a new perspective.

Wow nun ist bereits wieder 1 Woche im neuen Jahr vergangen. Die Zeit verfliegt. Jen und ich sind wieder gut in San Francisco angekommen. Letzte Woche haben wir mehr über das Jahr 2013 gesprochen was Gott so geplant hat. Wir sind gespannt. Bete dafür dass wir seinen Plan für dieses Jahr klar sehen können. Bete auch für unseren Freund aus North Beach der in wenigen Tagen mit seiner Krebs Behandlung anfängt. Vielen Dank fürs mitbeten.

Wieso gibst du dein bestes für die Arbeit die du tust?

Als ich vor 2.5 Jahren mit der End Loneliness Arbeit anfing wusste ich das es eine Herausforderung sein würde und das es nicht einfach sein wird. Aber ich konnte in der Vergangenheit viele male sehen wie Gott etwas sprach und es dann auch zustande kam. Wenn ich nun zurückschaue kann ich dies wieder sehen. End Loneliness zu starten war wahrscheinlich das schwierigste und herausforderndste, und oftmals stellte ich mir die Frage ob wir auf der richtigen Spur sind. Es hat mich so oft in meinem Glauben herausgefordert speziell wenn du oftmals entmutigende Worte von Menschen hörst die diese aus ihrer eigenen Angst sprechen. Ich fragte Gott oftmals die Frage ob wir auf der richtigen Spur sind, und jedes Mal die gleiche Antwort: geh weiter, du bist auf der richtigen Spur. Oftmals wurde dies auch bestätigt durch Worte von Unbekannten.  Aber manchmal ist es trotzdem schwer dieses zu glauben wenn du nicht die gewünschten großen Resultate siehst. Aber das ist die Zeit in der Du Gott vertrauen musst. Er hat uns dazu berufen Ihm gehorsam zu sein zu was auch immer er uns beruft. Es geht nicht darum das wir sofort Resultate sehen. Einige Menschen sahen oftmals die Versprechen nicht in Ihrer Lebenszeit wie z.B. Abraham. Gott versprach ihm eine große Nation aus ihm zu machen. Aber dies passierte erst Jahre nach dem er gestorben ist. Aber er blieb Gott gehorsam sogar zu dem Punkt das er seinen Sohn opfern sollte durch welchen nach menschlicher Sicht Gottes Versprechen wahr werden sollte.

Nun nach 2.5 Jahren sehen wir mehr und mehr Frucht in verschiedenen Teilen der Arbeit wie z.B. im Café dem Boys und Girls Club und in den Investitionen die wir in Menschen in der Gegend machten. Ich glaube daran das alles andere das er gesprochen hat auch zustande kommt. Unser Gott ist treu und er steht zu seinem Wort. Wir müssen Ihm nur vertrauen und glauben dass er zu seinem Wort steht.

Ich möchte dich damit ermutigen treu zu deiner Berufung zu stehen. Stell Dir selber diese Fragen:
Wieso gibst du dein bestes für die Arbeit die du tust?
Tust du es das du nicht am Ende wie der Dumme da stehst oder um dir selber etwas zu beweisen, oder interessiert dich der Ruhm und die Ehre nicht und du tust es nur weil du Gott liebst und Ehre zu seinem Namen bringen willst?

Denke über diese Fragen nach und bete darüber. Fang dieses neue Jahr mit einer neuen Perspektive an.
