Why is it important?

When Jesus called us to love our neighbor, he gave us a task that is possible for each one of us and is also a blessing for each one of us. Many people around us might feel isolated or don’t feel a sense of belonging (maybe including us), and each one of us can bring change to that. You will see how loving your neighbor will change those things and also the relationships but also how it will give you a greater love for the people around you. It will leave a great impact and it builds a strong and lasting community for your neighbors and you as well to just name a few things. When I think back to last year and how the pandemic affected everyone around the world we saw more and more 1. the need of bringing God’s love to our local places and 2. How important it is to be connected with our neighbors. We got reminded of the call from Jesus also because our neighborhoods were the only places we could go to. So let’s all do this together starting today to take Jesus seriously and love our neighbor. We will give you a monthly tip with how to establish that relationship and love your neighbors in a practical way and then we will all put it into action with the neighbors right around us.  And then watch how over time your neighborhood will change! You, me, and all of us can do it so let’s do it!!

How are you?

We had a wonderful week in San Francisco which was also very international. Our time sharing with a group in Germany was a lot of fun. We also got to preach through video at a church in Germany as well. And then we had our love your neighbor workshop, which went really great too. At the workshop we had participants from Germany and different parts of the US which was awesome. We are excited to hear their stories someday of how they started loving their neighbors and saw how their community changed.  Outside of that we got to connect with many people which was a blessing with a virtual dinner, a small group and an encouragement group. Meeting with each other on zoom even if it is not in person is so needed for all of us. Find this week some time to zoom with someone and also don’t forget to remember and learn the names of your neighbors!!

Wieso ist es wichtig?

Als Jesus uns dazu berufen hat unseren Nächsten (Nachbarn) zu lieben, gab er uns eine Aufgabe die für jeden von uns möglich ist und gleichzeitig auch ein Segen für uns ist. Viele Menschen in unserem Umfeld fühlen sich oftmals einsam oder haben nicht das Gefühl das sie dazugehören (vielleicht fühlen wir uns auch selber manchmal so) und jeder von uns kann Veränderung in diesem Bereich bringen. Du wirst sehen wie sich diese Dinge und die Beziehungen mit Nachbarn verändern wenn wir sie lieben, und wie auch wir selber eine größere Liebe für unsere Nachbarn haben. Es wird einen großen Eindruck hinterlassen und eine starke Gemeinschaft aufbauen für dich und sie um nur einige Dinge zu nennen. Wenn ich zum letzten Jahr zurückdenke und wie die Corona Virus Situation jeden auf der Welt traf sah man auch mehr und mehr 1. wie wichtig es ist die Liebe Gottes auch zu unseren Wohngebieten zu bringen und 2. Wie wichtig es ist mit unseren Nachbarn verbunden zu sein. Es war eine gute Erinnerung an Jesus Auftrag speziell auch deshalb da wir nicht wirklich woanders hingehen konnten. Lasst uns dies zusammentun und Jesus Auftrag unseren Nächsten/ Nachbarn zu lieben ernst nehmen. Wir werden jeden Monat einen Tipp posten wie Beziehungen aufgebaut werden können und wie wir praktisch unsere Nachbarn lieben können. Und dann werden wir das ganze aktiv mit unseren Nachbarn leben. Dann pass auf und sehe wie sich mit der Zeit deine Wohngegend verändert! Jeder von uns kann es tun deshalb lasst uns aktiv werden, Du, ich und jeder einzelne von uns!!

Wie geht es dir?

Wir hatten eine tolle Woche in San Francisco die auch sehr international war. Am Sonntag predigten wir in Rohrdorf per Video (klickt auf diesen Link falls ihr es anschauen wollt) was viel Spaß gemacht hat. Am Dienstag waren wir dann per Zoom beim CVJM in Fellbach was auch eine echt tolle Zeit für uns war. Und dann am Samstag hatten wir unseren Love your Neighbor Workshop welcher auch super verlief. Wir sind gespannt darauf die Geschichten von den verschiedenen Teilnehmern zu hören wie sie indem sie ihre Nachbarn geliebt haben Veränderung in ihren Gegenden erlebt haben. Außer diesen Veranstaltungen hatten wir auch noch viele andere Zoom Zeiten mit Nachbarn und anderen aus unserer Gemeinde hier mit einem virtuellen Abendessen, einer Kleingruppe und einer Ermutigungsgruppe. Die treffen aus zoom sind wichtig für jeden von uns um mit anderen verbunden zu bleiben selbst, wenn wir uns nicht in Person treffen. Plane diese Woche eine Zeit um mit jemandem zu Zoomen und vergiss auch nicht die Namen deiner Nachbarn zu lernen!!

How was your week?

We felt so loved this week by our church family who had a virtual baby shower for us. It was so much fun!! Our speaking also went well this week to a group of Pastors and ministry leaders. We also learned a lot from one of the Pastors that will help us with the bigger picture. Outside of that we got to connect with our neighbors through phone, zoom or seeing them in the morning while running. How are you staying coonected with your neighbors in this season?

Wie war deine Woche?

Unsere Gemeinde hier in San Francisco hat uns diese Woche eine Baby Shower geplant was so lieb war und so viel Spaß gemacht hat!! Unser Sprach Termin mit Pastoren und Leitern verlief auch gut und wir konnten ihnen einige Ideen geben ihre Nachbarn zu lieben. Im Gegenzug konnten wir auch von einem Pastor etwas mehr über Verbindungen und Schulungen von Gemeinden lernen was uns mit der Schulungs Vision von Love your neighbor sehr helfen wird. Wir konnten diese Woche auch wieder Nachbarn in Verbindung kommen durch Zoom, Telefon und unseren Morgen Sport. Wie bleibst du in dieser Zeit mit deinen Nachbarn in Kontakt?

Lese diese Woche das Markus Evangelium und werde ermutigt und inspiriert!

[:en]The bible is such an exciting book but many don’t get to actually read it. That is why we decided to give you twice a month a short intro into a book in the old and a book in the new testament. We will share with you some inside into the book and then some things that stuck out to us. Then its your job to read the book and let God speak to you through it. May you get encouraged through the bible.  Genesis is the first book in the bible and it shares everything from the beginning. I love reading through it since the book has so many stories and foundational things. Spend some time to study it!!

Often we hear the negative side of technology but I love that technology can be such a blessing. Cause of it I was able to join a reunion of a youth group in Germany with friends that live at so many different locations now. Without tech that would have been impossible. Also through tech we were able to still meet as all the different YWAM ministries even in a time of lockdown. Through tech we were able to keep connecting with people in this last season as well. I have to say thank you God for how you enabled us to use tech for so many good purposes!! How are you using technology in this season to connect with people in a meaningful way?

Alos enjoy the stories in Genesis.  Be inspired through the faith of the different people and also their failures and that message that we can always growing!

Es erzählt davon wie alles begann. Ich liebe dieses Buch da so viele Grundlagen unseres Glaubens darin liegen und auch das es sehr viele bekannte Geschichten enthält. Verbring ein wenig Zeit darin zu studieren!!

Oftmals hören wir über die negativen Seiten von Technologie aber sie ist gleichzeitig auch so ein Segen. Wegen ihr konnte ich letzte Woche an einem Treffen einer alten Jugendgruppe aus Deutschland teilnehmen mit Freunden die auf der ganzen Welt verteilt sind. Ohne Technologie wäre das nicht möglich gewesen! Auch wegen Technologie konnten sich die Leiter der verschiedenen YWAM Arbeiten im Bay Area treffen in einer Zeit des Lockdowns. Durch Technologie konnten wir in der letzten Zeit mit Nachbarn verbunden bleiben. Danke Gott das du uns in der letzten Zeit Technologie für so viele gute Dinge einsetzen lassen konntest.  Wie hast du Technologie eingesetzt um mit Menschen in der letzten Zeit auf einem tieferen Weg in Verbindung zu bleiben?

Hab auch viel Spaß mit den Geschichten im 1. Mose Buch. Lass dich von dem Glauben und den Fehlern darin ermutigen das wir alle immer am Wachsen sind!

How are you?

Jen and i are doing good! This week in San Francisco felt almost like spring came early. Usually it would rain and be cold this part of the year but instead it was warm and sunny. That automatically helps to have a good week! Some of the big things this week were finishing up a teaching and also helping in the planning for a after covid relaunch of our church here. Also please keep our and your neighborhood in your prayers in this season since many people are struggling with isolation and business owners with hardship. Pray for peace and wisdom for business owners and courage for the people who are isolated to reach out to others for connection and others around them to reach out to them.

Also make sure to follow our monthly tip on how to love your neighbor this month by introducing yourself to your neighbor!

Wie geht es dir?

Jen und mir geht es gut. Unsere Woche in San Francisco hat sich beinahe wie Fruehjahr angefuehlt. Normalerweise wuerde es hier zu dieser Jahreszeit regnen aber anstatt dessen hatten wir Sonne und warmes Wetter. Das hat automatisch geholfen eine gute Woche zu haben.  Das hilft automatisch zu einer guten Woche! Einige der grossen Dinge dieser Woche waren das fertigstellen von Schulungen und Planungs Meetings mit unserer Gemeinde fuer einen Start der Kirche nach der Corona Krise. Bitte bete auch fuer unsere als auch deine Wohngegend in dieser Zeit da viele sehr von Einsamkeit betroffen sind und viele GEschaefts Besitzer Probleme haben. Betet fuer Friede und Weisheit von Gott fuer die Geschaefte Inhaber und Mut fuer die Einsamen mit anderen in Verbindung zu kommen als auch die in ihrem Umfeld Kontakt mit ihnen aufzubauen.

Vergiss auch nicht unserem monatlichen Love your neighbor Tip zu folgen und dich diesen Monat deinem Nachbarn vorzustellen!

How was your week?

2021 just started and God is already opening doors. During this week God opened the door to teach university students on how to love their neighbor and we prepared a video message for a church in Germany. Later in the month we are invited to share with different Pastors and ministry leaders and in February again another sharing in Germany. And then we have our second love your neighbor workshop coming up February 6th (if you would like to know more about that email us).  Its amazing to see how God keeps opening more and more doors to inspire people all over. We also got to connect with someone who grew up in our neighborhood a long time ago and he could share with us how it looked like then. Keep praying with us in this season that many more will be inspired to love their neighbors and that through that we will see healing,  stronger communities and more people knowing Jesus and his love for them.

Also dont forget to read this week through the book of Matthew and be encouraged and inspired!!

Wie war deine Woche?

2021 hat gerade erst begonnen und Gott hat bereits Türen geöffnet. In dieser Woche öffnete Gott die Tür Universitäts Studenten zu unterrichten und wie sie ihre Nachbarn lieben können und dann bereiteten wir eine Video Predigt für eine Gemeinde in Deutschland vor. Später in diesem Monat haben wir eine Einladung mit Pastoren und Leitern über das Thema zu sprechen und im Februar dann noch einmal in Deutschland. Im 6. Februar haben wir dann noch unseren 2. Love your Neighbor workshop (falls du gerne teilnehmen möchtest allerdings nur auf englisch email  uns). Es ist so spannend wie Gott mehr und mehr Türen öffnet um andere zu inspirieren. Wir konnten uns auch mit jemandem über zoom treffen der vor vielen Jahren in unserem Wohngebiet aufgewachsen ist und dabei konnten wir mehr hören wie es damals hier aussah. Betet mit uns in dieser Zeit das viele andere inspiriert werden ihre Nachbarn zu lieben und das wir dadurch mehr Heilung, stärkere Gemeinschaft und viel mehr Leute sehen die Jesus und seine Liebe ganz persönlich für sich erleben dürfen.

Vergiss auch nicht diese diese Woche das Matthäus Evangelium zu lesen und werde dadurch ermutigt und inspiriert!

[:en]Take a journey through the bible with us and be encouraged through a story to think about[:de]Gehe auf eine Reise durch die Bibel zusammen mit uns und werde durch eine Geschichte zum Nachdenken ermutigt[:]

[:en]Wouldn’t it be amazing to have a greater understanding of the bible and the context of things? Wouldn’t it even be better if you would have read through the whole book? Join us for the next 29 months to do that. Every month we will look at a book from the old and from the new testament with a time of 2 weeks in between to read it. I will post a video on it with different things about the book so you have some idea what it’s about before you start reading. Then you will read the book with someone you know (it doesn’t have to be at the same time or the same place) so you can share with each other what stuck out to you. This can be done via WhatsApp group or how ever, you want to connect. WE will start next week!

To be ready this is what you need:

  1. A bible a paper version not digital
  2. A highlighter pen so you can mark verses that stuck out to you
  3. A journal so you can write down your thoughts on each book
  4. A smartphone so you can look up things if you read a word or something else you don’t understand.
  5. A co reader find one person or a group of people that join you on this journey. Maybe your church small group or a friend? Create a WhatsApp group and then exchange your thoughts with each other.

WE are looking forward to have you join us on this journey.

Jen and i took a few days after christmas at home just the two us which was fun. Thats why there is no update about the week, but there will be another one next week!!

Markus and Jen[:de]Wäre es nicht super ein besseres verstehen von der Bibel und den verschiedenen Zusammenhängen zu haben? Wäre es nicht noch besser wenn du die ganze Bibel gelesen hättest? Begleite uns hier für die nächsten 29 Monate und du kannst genau dies tun. Jeden Monat schauen wir uns ein Buch im neuen und im Alten Testament an mit einer 2 woechigen Zeit dazwischen um es zu lesen. Ich werde hier auf dem Blog ein Video posten mit einem Überblick über das Buch und Dinge die zu mir gesprochen haben, damit du ein wenig eine Idee hast um was es geht. Dann wirst du das Buch mit jemand zusammen lesen (das muss nicht zur gleichen Zeit oder am gleichen Ort sein) das ihr euch gegenseitig mit euren Gedanken und was zu euch gesprochen hat austauschen könnt. Dies könnt ihr über eine WhatsApp Gruppe tun oder wie ihr sonst miteinander in Verbindung sein wollt. Wir werden nächste Woche anfangen!

Was brauchst du?

  1. Eine Bibel Papierversion nicht digital
  2. Einen Textmarker Stift damit du die Verse markieren kannst die herausgestochen sind.
  3. Ein Heft oder ein Notizbuch in dem du deine Gedanken und dinge die zu dir gesprochen haben aufschreiben kannst.
  4. Ein Handy auf dem du Sachen nachschauen kannst die du nicht verstehst wie z.B. bestimmte Worte.
  5. Eine Person oder Gruppe die mit dir zusammen auf diese Reise geht. Frage doch mal ob deine Hauskreis Freunde dabei sein sollen oder auch andere Freunde. Kreeiere eine Whatsapp Gruppe in der ihr euch gegenseitig mit den Gedanken zu dem jeweiligen Buch austauscht.

We hope you had a wonderful refreshing Christmas season!

We had a wonderful Christmas week in San Francisco. Our virtual Christmas dinner was a hit and a lot of fun. All the food we cooked for it was put in to-go boxes and everyone picked it up in a bag at our apartment gate and then we meet on zoom. Even Christmas was different this year it was such a wonderful time. At the end of the week we filmed more videos for Jens art class for the kids at the boys and girls club which was a lot of fun! We also want to wish you a good start into 2021 and a happy new year!!

Ask God to help you in this new year to show his mercy daily to people, deserved or undeserved.

Wir hoffen du hattest eine erfrischende tolle Weihnachtszeit!

Wir hatten eine gute Weihnachtswoche hier in San Francisco. Unser virtuelles Weihnachtsessen war ein Hit und machte viel Spaß. Wir kochten ein schwäbisches essen und verpackten es in kleine Container. Jeder der Nachbarn der dabei war konnte sich dann das essen direkt an unserem Eingang in einer Tüte abholen mit Salat Hauptgang und Nachtisch. Als jeder sein Essen hatte trafen wir uns auf zoom (einem Video Portal wie skype) und aßen zusammen und feierten Weihnachten. Weihnachten war nicht wie jedes Jahr aber es war trotzdem eine tolle Zeit! Am Ende der Woche filmten wir dann auch noch etliche weitere Kunstklassen für die Kinder im Boys und Girls Club. Dies hat auch noch richtig Spaß gemacht. Wir wollen euch nun einen guten Start ins Jahr 2021 und ein gutes Neues Jahr wünschen.

Bitte Gott dir in diesem Jahr zu helfen täglich Barmherzigkeit zu zeigen, verdient oder unverdient!

First Jen and I want to wish you a merry Christmas with our Christmas message. We hope you feel encouraged!!

 

Second, this week’s blog is about growth and how important others are in it! Be encouraged!!

We had a wonderful week here in SF. WE are amazed how God keeps opening up speaking opportunities to inspire others to love their neighbor and neighborhood and how much of a blessing it is, not just for neighbors but also for us. God is just awesome!! We also hosted a virtual dinner with neighbors and whoever wanted to come which was a lot of fun too. We ate each at our own tables and were connected through zoom to talk and connect. What a wonderful time!! Maybe after Christmas have a virtual dinner with neighbors and friends too!

Since Christmas is here now we want to encourage you to engage with lonely neighbors as an example through a video call in which they can join your celebration and also maybe dropping of some Christmas cookies for them.

1. Jen und ich wollen Dir ein frohes und gesegnetes Weihnachtsfest mit unserer Weihnachtsnachricht wünschen. Wir hoffen sie ermutigt dich.

2. Diese Woche geht es im Blog um das wichtige Thema Wachstum und wie wichtig andere darin sind. Sei ermutigt!

Wir hatten eine tolle Woche hier in San Francisco. Wir sind so dankbar und erstaunt wie Gott mehr und mehr Türen öffnet um auch andere zu ermutigen ihre Nachbarn und Wohngegend zu lieben und was für eine Segen dies ist, für die Nachbarn und uns. Gott ist einfach super!! Wir luden diese Woche auch zu einem virtuellen Abendessen Nachbarn und jeder der kommen wollte ein. Jeder aß an seinem eigenen Tisch und war dann miteinander zum schwätzen durch Zoom verbunden. Dies war auch eine super Zeit!! Plane doch auch ein virtuelles Abendessen nach Weihnachten für Nachbarn und Freunde!

Und fuer Weihnachten wollen wir dich  ermutigen Nachbarn die einsam sind in diese Weihnachtszeit einzubeziehen z.B. durch mitfeiern ueber Video Zoom skype etc. oder indem du ihnen Weihnachtsguatsle vorbeibringst.

This is the last blog to our year topic with a little encouragement.

 

Hi our friend

We hope you enjoy this Advent season. Hopefully, you got some time to reflect on the love of God in this time and also spending time with his other children!!

One of the highlights of our week here was to bake brownies for 90 of our neighbors, pack them up and give them out in a safe way with our Christmas card. It was so wonderful to see how much joy it brought to our neighbors and us! We also had a few encouraging meetings with like-minded people this week which was awesome!

One thing all of us need in this season is community and each one of us can bring it to each other. week Jen and I will start this week to get ready for Christmas with neighbors which will be virtual this year like Thanksgiving. But that doesn’t mean it was less fun. Everyone who joined us loved it and also felt part of a community. We want to encourage you to include your neighbors into your Christmas planning. Sing Christmas carols and eat together and let them be part of your community. Invite them to celebrate with you in a virtual way like on zoom.

Also Take time this week to thank God in areas where he helped you to overcome your unbelief in this last year and ask him to grow even more in your faith!

Dies ist der letzte Blog zu unserem Jahresthema und wir hoffen dass er dich ermutigt!

Hallo unser Freund/in

Wir hoffen das du diese Adventszeit genießt. Hoffentlich hast du auch etwas Zeit um über die Liebe Gottes nachzudenken und auch Zeit mit seinen anderen Kindern zu verbringen!

Eines der Highlights dieser Woche war unser Backtag. Wir backten Brownies für 90 Nachbarn, verpackten sie und verteilten sie dann auf einem sicheren Weg zusammen mit unserer Weihnachtskarte. Es hat so viel Freude zu uns und unseren Nachbarn gebracht! Während dieser Woche hatten wir auch noch einige ermutigende Meetings mit Menschen die ein Herz für die gleiche Sache haben!

Eine Sache die jeder von uns in dieser Zeit braucht ist Gemeinschaft und das geniale ist das wir es uns gegenseitig schenken können. Jen und ich fangen diese Woche an uns für Weihnachten mit unseren Nachbarn vorzubereiten. Ja dieses Jahr wird es virtuell stattfinden wie Thanksgiving welches richtig Spaß gemacht hat. Jeder der mitfeierte trug einen Teil zur Gemeinschaft bei und hatte im Gegenzug auch selber viel Spaß. Wir möchten dich ermutigen deine Nachbarn in dein Weihnachtsfest auf einem virtuellen Weg mit einzubinden. Singt Weihnachtslieder und esst zusammen auf dem Monitor und seit alle ein Teil einer wunderbaren Gemeinschaft! Lade sie zu einer virtuellen Feier z.B. auf zoom ein.

Vergiss auch nicht dir ein wenig Zeit zu nehmen darüber nachzudenken wie Gott dir geholfen hat Unglauben in deinem Leben zu überkommen und bitte ihn darum das du noch mehr in deinem Glauben wächst!

Christmas is approaching fast!! Have you thought of inviting a neighbor to your family celebration!

Our week went well here. We finished getting ready for the love your neighbor workshop on Saturday. The workshop was a lot of fun for us and we had a wonderful group of participants. We are excited to see how God will move through each of the participants in loving their neighbor. 2020 has been such a different year but it’s exciting to see how doors opened that would have not been possible a while ago, like having people at a workshop from different states without travel. What was something in 2020 that you could do now but could never do before?

Watch the movie one more time in this Christmas season and be inspired!

Weihnachten kommt schnell auf uns zu! Hast du dir schon überlegt einen Nachbarn zu deiner Weihnachtsfeier einzuladen?

Unsere Woche verlief gut hier in San Francisco. Wir trafen die letzten Vorbereitungen für den Love your neighbor workshop am Samstag. Der Workshop hat viel Spaß gemacht und wir hatten eine wunderbare Teilnehmer Gruppe. Wir sind gespannt was Gott durch diese Teilnehmer Nachbarn mit seiner Liebe erreicht. 2020 war ein etwas anderes Jahr aber es ist spannend zu sehen wie sich Türen geöffnet haben die zuvor nicht möglich gewesen wären wie z.B. Teilnehmer aus verschiedenen Staaten zu haben ohne zu reisen. Was war etwas das du in 2020 tun konntest das du zuvor nicht tun konntest?
