First of all we wish you a blessed and merry Christmas and a good start into 2024. We had and still do, since I wrote this the day before Christmas, a wonderful Christmas time. We got to celebrate with our church last Sunday and Thursday with a wonderful Christmas meal. We also went caroling at the ferry building with a group of friends. It was wonderful to see people sing along and having a smile on their face when they heard us singing some of the classics like joy to the world or hark the herald angel sing. Christmas eve we will have a brunch with neighbor friends. In the evening we will sing Christmas carols at the ywam base and after give out Hot Chocolate to neighbors on the street in the Tenderloin. Christmas day we will cook a Christmas meal and eat together with neighbors. What a wonderful season to bring community and share with others about the best news in the world, the birth of Jesus!!

Also remember that God cares so much about you and wants to bring Redemption in your life too!

Zuerst wünschen wir Dir ein frohes und gesegnetes Weihnachtsfest und einen guten Start ins Jahr 2024. Wir hatten und haben, da ich dies am Tag vor Weihnachten geschrieben habe, eine wunderschöne Weihnachtszeit. Letzten Sonntag und Donnerstag konnten wir mit unserer Kirche mit einem tollen essen feiern. Dann gingen wir noch mit einer Gruppe von Freunden Weihnachtslieder vor dem Ferry Building auf dem Samstags Markt singen. Es war wunderbar zu sehen, wie die Leute mitsangen und ein Lächeln auf dem Gesicht hatten, als sie uns einige der Klassiker singen hörten, wie „Joy to the World“ oder „Hark the Herald Angel“. Heiligabend werden wir ein Brunch mit Nachbarn veranstalten und abends singen wir noch einmal Weihnachtslieder bei der YWAM Base mit anschließendem Heisen Kaba ausgeben für Nachbarn auf der Straße der Tenderloin. Und am 1. Weihnachtstag werden wir gemeinsam mit Nachbarn ein Weihnachtsessen bei uns haben. Was für eine wunderbare Zeit, um Gemeinschaft zu schaffen und mit anderen die beste Nachricht der Welt zu teilen: die Geburt Jesu!!

Vergiss auch nicht das du Gott so wichtig bist und das er auch Erlösung in dein Leben bringen möchte.

[:en]Redemption Part 5: An untraditional birth [:de]Erlösung Teil 5: Eine untraditionelle Geburt[:]

[:en]When you think of a child being born, especially of noble heritage, you probably think of a hospital or at least a home with a midwife and not a barn. Also you would probably not consider that they would travel 90 miles on the back of a donkey in that condition right?  But that is exactly what the couple did who we talk about today while carrying the King of Kings in her womb. May they inspire and encourage you. You find the bible reference for todays topic in Luke 2:1-8

When you think of Mary and Joseph and their long journey from Nazareth to Betlehem it makes me think of all the people they met along the way. During a prayer walk last week I got to meet multiple people and encourage them. It was also wonderful to hear their stories and a bit of their life while walking for a while together. Its not happening all the time that you start walking with total strangers, hear their stories and then say goodbye at friends, but it can happen when love others along the way. These conversations started after me seeing that they looked lost and offered them to help. We want to encourage you to leave margins in your life to be able to observe and to stop if needed to help others. God sometimes uses those short encounters to encourage people and show them his love. And sometimes you find wonderful friends that way!!

We also want to encourage you in this Christmas time to not forget the ones around you who might not have anyone to celebrate with. Invite them to either celebrate Christmas with you or have them over for some hot chocolate and Christmas treats to show them that you love them and that they matter to you and God!!

Spend some time to think and reflect on how Redemption for all of us started in a barn. Think about how Emmanuel God with us, the king of King was born in a humble barn and into humble circumstances.

Aber genau das tat das Paar, über das wir heute sprechen, als sie den König der Könige in ihrem Mutterleib trug. Mögen sie dich inspirieren und ermutigen. Zuerst moechten d

Wenn ich an Maria und Josef und ihre lange Reise von Nazareth nach Betlehem denke, muss ich an all die Menschen denken, denen sie auf dem Weg begegnet sind. Während eines Gebetsspaziergangs letzte Woche durfte ich mehrere Menschen treffen und ihnen Mut machen. Es war auch wunderbar, ihre Geschichten und einen Teil ihres Lebens zu hören, während wir eine Weile zusammen spazieren gingen. Es passiert nicht immer, dass man mit völlig Fremden spazieren geht, ihre Geschichten hört und sich dann von neuen Freunden verabschiedet. Aber es kann passieren, wenn man unterwegs andere liebt. Dieses bestimmte Gespräch begann, nachdem ich die zwei sah wie sie versuchten den richtigen Weg zu finden und ein wenig verloren aussahen und ihnen meine Hilfe anbot. Wir möchten Dich ermutigen, in deinem Leben Spielräume zu lassen, um solche Dinge sehen zu können und bei Bedarf anzuhalten, um anderen zu helfen. Manchmal benutzt Gott diese kurzen Begegnungen, um Menschen zu ermutigen und ihnen seine Liebe zu zeigen. Und manchmal findet man auf diese Weise wunderbare Freunde!!

Wir möchten Dich auch in dieser Weihnachtszeit ermutigen, die Menschen in deinem Umfeld nicht zu vergessen, die vielleicht niemanden haben, mit dem sie feiern können. Lade sie ein, entweder zum Weihnachtsfest mit Dir und deiner Familie zu feiern oder lade sie in dieser Zeit auf einen heißen Punch und Guatlse (Weihnachtsgebäck) ein, um ihnen zu zeigen, dass du sie liebst und dass sie Dir und Gott wichtig sind!!

Nehme dir etwas Zeit zum Nachdenken, wie die Erlösung für uns alle in einer Scheune begann. Denken darüber nach, wie Emmanuel Gott mit uns, der König der Könige, in einer bescheidenen Scheune und in bescheidenen Verhältnissen geboren wurde.

How are you?

We had a wonderful week here in San Francisco. We got to celebrate the wedding of an older neighbor friend which was really special. The food at the reception was so good!! Then right after that, we had a Christmas celebration with our YWAM family. It was so much fun connecting with everyone and playing some games together. We love our YWAM family. On the way back from that Christmas party Caleb got to see the beautiful Christmas tree at Union Square and really loved it. And then at the end of the week, we baked and delivered almost 100 brownies and Christmas cards to our neighbors. Many people had a huge smile on their faces when they got the brownies. I remember one time a neighbor saying to me during the summer how she never forgot the brownie. It’s amazing how much love a brownie and a Christmas card can show. How is your Christmas season going so far?

We want to encourage you as we said in the video above to trust that if God gave you a vision, that he will also make it reality. Ask him for faith and trust for that!

Wie geht es Dir?

Wir hatten eine wundervolle Woche hier in San Francisco. Wir durften die Hochzeit eines älteren Nachbarfreundes feiern, was wirklich etwas Besonderes war. Das Essen bei der Feier war so gut!! Gleich danach feierten wir eine Weihnachtsfeier mit unserer YWAM-Familie. Es hat so viel Spaß gemacht, mit allen zusammen zu kommen und gemeinsam ein paar Spiele zu spielen. Wir lieben unsere YWAM-Familie. Auf dem Rückweg von der Weihnachtsfeier sah Caleb den wunderschönen Weihnachtsbaum am Union Square und war wirklich begeistert. Und dann haben wir am Ende der Woche fast 100 Brownies gebacken und zusammen mit Weihnachtskarten zu unseren Nachbarn gebracht. Viele von Ihnen hatten ein großes Lächeln im Gesicht, als sie die Brownies und die karte bekamen. Ich erinnere mich, wie mir einmal eine Nachbarin im Sommer sagte, sie habe das Brownie und die Karte nie vergessen. Es ist erstaunlich, wie viel Liebe ein Brownie und eine Weihnachtskarte zeigen können. Wie ist deine Weihnachtszeit bisher?

[:en]Why is it important?

When Jesus called us to love our neighbor, he gave us a task that is possible for each one of us and is also a blessing for each one of us. Many people around us might feel isolated or don’t feel a sense of belonging (maybe including us), and each one of us can bring change to that. You will see how loving your neighbor will change those things and also the relationships but also how it will give you a greater love for the people around you. It will leave a great impact and it builds a strong and lasting community for your neighbors and you as well to just name a few things. When I think back to last year and how the pandemic affected everyone around the world we saw more and more 1. the need of bringing God’s love to our local places and 2. How important it is to be connected with our neighbors. We got reminded of the call from Jesus also because our neighborhoods were the only places we could go to. So let’s all do this together starting today to take Jesus seriously and love our neighbor. We will give you a monthly tip with how to establish that relationship and love your neighbors in a practical way and then we will all put it into action with the neighbors right around us.  And then watch how over time your neighborhood will change! You, me, and all of us can do it so let’s do it!!

First of all we want to wish you a happy and blessed first of Advent week!! The first candle symbolizes hope which is something so important in every area of our life. Spend some time this week to think about true hope only God can bring.

If I would have to title this week I would call it the week of the meetings. All of the meetings were good and productive which is wonderful. I really love those times to be able to help others but also get help and advice from others. It is such a blessing to walk with others and also see all the different giftings God gave each of them and us in use.

Also as mentioned in our monthly love your neigh or tip, lets bring some joy this Christmas season by singing Christmas carols with neighbors at a nursing home or senior center

 [:de]Wieso ist es wichtig?

Als Jesus uns dazu berufen hat unseren Nächsten (Nachbarn) zu lieben, gab er uns eine Aufgabe die für jeden von uns möglich ist und gleichzeitig auch ein Segen für uns ist. Viele Menschen in unserem Umfeld fühlen sich oftmals einsam oder haben nicht das Gefühl das sie dazugehören (vielleicht fühlen wir uns auch selber manchmal so) und jeder von uns kann Veränderung in diesem Bereich bringen. Du wirst sehen wie sich diese Dinge und die Beziehungen mit Nachbarn verändern, wenn wir sie lieben, und wie auch wir selber eine größere Liebe für unsere Nachbarn haben. Es wird einen großen Eindruck hinterlassen und eine starke Gemeinschaft aufbauen für dich und sie um nur einige Dinge zu nennen. Wenn ich zum letzten Jahr zurückdenke und wie die Corona Virus Situation jeden auf der Welt traf sah man auch mehr und mehr 1. wie wichtig es ist die Liebe Gottes auch zu unseren Wohngebieten zu bringen und 2. Wie wichtig es ist mit unseren Nachbarn verbunden zu sein. Es war eine gute Erinnerung an Jesus Auftrag speziell auch deshalb da wir nicht wirklich woanders hingehen konnten. Lasst uns dies zusammentun und Jesus Auftrag unseren Nächsten/ Nachbarn zu lieben ernst nehmen. Wir werden jeden Monat einen Tipp posten wie Beziehungen aufgebaut werden können und wie wir praktisch unsere Nachbarn lieben können. Und dann werden wir das ganze aktiv mit unseren Nachbarn leben. Dann pass auf und sehe wie sich mit der Zeit deine Wohngegend verändert! Jeder von uns kann es tun deshalb lasst uns aktiv werden, Du, ich und jeder einzelne von uns!!

Zuerst wünschen wir dir eine schöne und gesegnete erste Adventswoche!! Die erste Kerze symbolisiert Hoffnung, die in jedem Bereich unseres Lebens so wichtig ist. Nehmen dir diese Woche etwas Zeit, um über die wahre Hoffnung nachzudenken, die nur Gott bringen kann.

Wenn ich diese Woche einen Titel nennen müsste, würde ich sie die Woche der Meetings nennen. Alle Meetings waren gut und produktiv, was wunderbar ist. Ich liebe diese Zeiten in denen ich anderen helfen kann, aber auch Hilfe und Rat von anderen bekomme. Es ist ein großer Segen, mit anderen zu gehen und auch zu sehen, wie all die unterschiedlichen Gaben, die Gott ihnen und uns gegeben hat, zusammen in Gebrauch sind.

How was your Thanksgiving? We hope wonderful!!

Thanksgiving is such a special day to celebrate with family. But being family doesn’t have to be limited to people that are related by blood. It can be people that are neighbors, friends, church community and many others that can be included in that. When I look at our thanksgiving table that is exactly what I am seeing. I see a friend from the service industry, neighbors and others we know in the neighborhood. And we have to say we are thankful for all of them. Our blood family being far away doesn’t mean that we don’t have family here. We have it through each of them. Are you having family like that in your neighborhood? If not, let’s get started and build relationships with your neighbors, so next year you do. If you need help to get started, we would love to help you get started. Wie geht es Dir?

Feiertage wie Thanksgiving, Weihnachten etc.  sind besonderere Tage, die man mit der Familie feiern kann. Aber die Zugehörigkeit zur Familie muss sich nicht auf Menschen beschränken, die blutsverwandt sind. Es können Menschen dazu gehören wie Nachbarn, Freunde, Gemeindemitglieder und viele andere die darin einbezogen werden können. Wenn ich um unseren Thanksgiving Tisch schaue sehe ich genau dies. Ich sehe einen Freund aus der Dienstleistungsbranche, Nachbarn und andere, die wir in der Nachbarschaft kennen. Und wir müssen sagen, dass wir für sie alle dankbar sind. Die Tatsache, dass unsere Blutsfamilie weit weg ist, bedeutet nicht, dass wir hier keine Familie haben. Wir haben es durch jeden von ihnen. Hast du so eine Familie in deiner Nachbarschaft? Wenn nicht, fang heute noch damit an mit deinen Nachbarn Kontakt aufzubauen so das du auch diese Familie hast. Falls du etwas Hilfe und Ideen brauchst um zu starten würden wir dir gerne helfen. [:en]If you missed last week here is a little intro to our series:I love how God is the God of redemption. Over this next season we will talk more about that through our new Series on Redemption. We will start off with some of the why and also some Redemption in the Old Testament, then move into the Christmas story, then a bit into Jesus’ life here on earth and then go towards Easter with everything that happened around that time. After watching each of the videos we want to encourage you to think about how God wants to partner with you to bring His Redemption to people in your neighborhood, workplace, school etc. Be inspired and encouraged through this Series. This week we are talking about how God brings Redemption of Circumstances for his people in the Old Testament. You can read the stories in the whole old testament.

Thanksgiving is one of the celebrations were food and great conversations are so plenty. We are excited for a wonderful time with our neighbor friends and are so thankful for each of them. Its always wonderful to pray together for things going on in our city, neighborhoods and the world. We also had a really encouraging meeting this week which affirmed a lot of the direction we are going. In the coming week we start to plan for our Thanksgiving meal which will be a lot of fun. We will give you a monthly tip with how to establish that relationship and love your neighbors in a practical way and then we will all put it into action with the neighbors right around us.  And then watch how over time your neighborhood will change! You, me, and all of us can do it so let’s do it!!

How are you?

Caleb and I sadly had some health setbacks this week and didn’t recover fully yet as we hoped for. The sickness seems to really hold on and not wanting to leave. Please keep praying with us for its soon departure!  I was able to keep working on things from bed and could join meetings also that way which was a blessing. Jen has been the best nurse for both of us during that time.

I don’t know if you saw the blog we wrote a wall ago or heard but the Founder of YWAM Loren Cunningham passed away at the beginning of October. Last night they had a beautiful Celebration of life for him that was so encouraging and inspiring.  [:de]Wieso ist es wichtig?

Als Jesus uns dazu berufen hat unseren Nächsten (Nachbarn) zu lieben, gab er uns eine Aufgabe die für jeden von uns möglich ist und gleichzeitig auch ein Segen für uns ist. Viele Menschen in unserem Umfeld fühlen sich oftmals einsam oder haben nicht das Gefühl das sie dazugehören (vielleicht fühlen wir uns auch selber manchmal so) und jeder von uns kann Veränderung in diesem Bereich bringen. Du wirst sehen wie sich diese Dinge und die Beziehungen mit Nachbarn verändern, wenn wir sie lieben, und wie auch wir selber eine größere Liebe für unsere Nachbarn haben. Es wird einen großen Eindruck hinterlassen und eine starke Gemeinschaft aufbauen für dich und sie um nur einige Dinge zu nennen. Wenn ich zum letzten Jahr zurückdenke und wie die Corona Virus Situation jeden auf der Welt traf sah man auch mehr und mehr 1. wie wichtig es ist die Liebe Gottes auch zu unseren Wohngebieten zu bringen und 2. Wie wichtig es ist mit unseren Nachbarn verbunden zu sein. Es war eine gute Erinnerung an Jesus Auftrag speziell auch deshalb da wir nicht wirklich woanders hingehen konnten. Lasst uns dies zusammentun und Jesus Auftrag unseren Nächsten/ Nachbarn zu lieben ernst nehmen. Wir werden jeden Monat einen Tipp posten wie Beziehungen aufgebaut werden können und wie wir praktisch unsere Nachbarn lieben können. Und dann werden wir das ganze aktiv mit unseren Nachbarn leben. Dann pass auf und sehe wie sich mit der Zeit deine Wohngegend verändert! Jeder von uns kann es tun deshalb lasst uns aktiv werden, Du, ich und jeder einzelne von uns!!

Wie geht es dir?

Caleb und ich hatten diese Woche leider einige gesundheitliche Rückschläge und haben uns noch nicht vollständig erholt, wie wir es uns erhofft hatten. Die Krankheit scheint sich wirklich extra gut festzuhalten und wollte noch nicht gehen. Bitte bete weiterhin mit uns für ihre baldige Abreise! Ich konnte vom Bett aus weiterarbeiten und konnte so auch an Besprechungen teilnehmen, was ein Segen war. Jen war in dieser Zeit für uns beide die beste Krankenschwester.

Ich weiß nicht, ob ihr den Blog gesehen oder es anders gehört habt, aber der Gründer von YWAM Loren Cunningham ist Anfang Oktober verstorben. Gestern Abend wurde eine wunderschöne Lebensfeier für ihn gefeiert, die so ermutigend und inspirierend war. Wir möchten dich ermutigen die Aufnahme davon anzusehen und dich inspirieren zu lassen, wie Gott diesen Mann benutzte, um viele, viele Leben zu berühren, einschließlich Jen und meines! How are you?

All of our health is improving. Thank you God! Jen is fully recovered, Caleb still has a cough and I am almost better from the cough. Thank you for praying for us. But isn’t it great that if you have multiple people in the family that some can go out and still encourage others. Jen was able to do that this week and could encourage a few people with some of them going through a hard season. And even with being sick we can still pray and do things from the bed which is a blessing. It reminds me of how Paul said that in his weakness Christ is strong. God is our strength!

We also want to encourage you this week with the words from the video to trust God and be ok with waiting. Ask him what he has for you in waiting times.

Uns geht es besser wie letzte Woche. Danke Gott! Jen ist vollständig genesen, Caleb hat immer noch Husten und mir geht es fast besser vom Husten. Vielen Dank, dass du für uns gebetet hast. Aber ist es nicht toll, dass, wenn man mehrere Personen in der Familie hat, einige rausgehen und andere trotzdem ermutigen können? Das ist Jen diese Woche möglich gewesen und sie konnte ein paar Menschen ermutigen, von denen eine in einer schwierigen Zeit ist. Und selbst wenn wir krank sind, können wir vom Bett aus beten und Dinge tun, was ein Segen ist. Es erinnert mich daran, wie Paulus sagte, dass Christus in seiner Schwäche stark ist. Gott ist unsere Stärke!

Wir möchten dich diese Woche auch mit den Worten aus dem Video ermutigen, Gott zu vertrauen und mit dem Warten ok zu sein. Frage Ihn, was er für dich in den Wartezeiten  hat.

How are you?

We had a bit of a different week in San Francisco which was spend for a big part in bed. Caleb got sick on Monday, Tuesday Jen followed and I was only one day behind till I joint Wednesday. We caught some bug that is going around right now but we are all recovering. The great thing even with being sick was that God used it to encourage us. God can use all things for good.

Wie geht es Dir?

Wir hatten eine etwas andere Woche hier in San Francisco die zu einem großen Teil im Bett verbracht wurde. Caleb wurde am Montag krank, Jen folgte am Dienstag und ich war am Ende dann auch nur einen Tag verspätet und wurde am Mittwoch krank. Wir haben uns irgendetwas eingefangen das gerade herumgeht.  Aber das gute daran war das Gott diese Zeit benutzte uns zu ermutigen. Gott kann alles zum guten Wenden!

Und vergiss auch die Ermutigung vom Video Blog nicht Gott zu vertrauen und nicht deinem eigenen Verstand!
